fairly dry here – so carrots and beetroot go in after rain – as do all the winter crops.
i’ve been wetting the soil for the garlic

Easter Monday here pepper, and the whole country shuts down for Easter… some of the retail shops were open on saturday and the Supermarket was open yesterday, but Liquor stores close for the whole weekend, and everything was shut on Friday…

all ‘cept the Churches. On Friday there was a big Catholic March from Ela Beach up to a church in the hill side, representing the 14 stations of Christ.

and Yesterday, there were many festivities around the place celebrating the resurrection… It includes tribal dancing and singing… Very colourful.

In my little patch of garden, my Tarrogon (sp?) is doing really well, the eggplants are on the march and some tomatoes are ready to go in…

I did see the Volcano but from a long way off, and it was quiet (which is a good thing really)

Thanks HP, and thank you everyone… this sunrise was taken in the same place as the last night’s sunset shot. Its a place called Kimbe Bay and there is a resort there called Walindi and it is a top quality Dive Resort, with local timber bungalows surrounded by massive Casuarinas right on the ocean’s edge.

It gets quite a few tourists from the US, Europe and Japan, but not too many Aussies… perhaps it’s the reputation that places like Moresby has in Australia which keeps this place from being the new Bali???

i remember watching ‘samana santa’ (holy week) in spain – the towns were sooo crowded as lifesize statues of the holy persons were carried on shoulders down the streets.

Big wave and hug to Bluegreen.
Carrots and all root crops do well here as I have built up my soil with lots and lots of organic matter from my own 5 acres as I have chooks and a horse for the good poo and also 2 compost bays, worm farm and compost tumbler so what comes here stays here. We harvest as much water as we can for the garden as we are only on tank water here for our own use. we have a dam buas yet not able to afford a pump to get the water to the veges. One day

Morning Gardeners,
Another lovely day here. I actually did some housework here before the lure of the garden took over. Just a quick hello and I’m off to prune some enthusiastic shrubs back off the path. I’m sure I’ll find a dozen other things requiring attention though.

sounds good – 2 acres here north of adelaide – trying to generate all my compost from the yard – i need a big rainwater tank and pump too.
