Mine is currently a lake, the paths are rivers and with the pondy tub overflowing, the driveway is a rapid! There will be no watering for a while :)

I’m having a chuckle at the irony of the situation. We are allowed almost unrestrained use of water again to pay for waterworks like the pipeline and de sal plant. But it’s raining..

My plan to put some clear lazerlight roofing over the entry part is now very important. I’ll check this weekend markets for some sheets of it.

Mexicans are south of the border .. and traditionally it is a New South Welshman who calls everyone south of the border a Mexican and every one north of the border a bananabender.

total for the last three days is now 87 mm., 45 mm fell so far today, still sprinkling but wind getting stronger and yes a rather cool evening.

My rain guage, which I now empty nightly, holds 30 mls and overflowed so I looked at the BOM site for a total and it says 11 something ml..

There is no way that 11 ml could be right after raining hard nearly 12 hours and the roadsides are small lakes. So what gives ?

ps. I peeked into my neighbours yard and it’s under wter ,ankle deep.. my yard is well drained, not a puddle left.

supposed to be about rain.. you you… thread hijackers.. ;)

Mexicans are south of the border .. and traditionally it is a New South Welshman who calls everyone south of the border a Mexican and every one north of the border a bananabender.

total for the last three days is now 87 mm., 45 mm fell so far today, still sprinkling but wind getting stronger and yes a rather cool evening.

spoken like a true mexican.

My rain guage, which I now empty nightly, holds 30 mls and overflowed so I looked at the BOM site for a total and it says 11 something ml..

There is no way that 11 ml could be right after raining hard nearly 12 hours and the roadsides are small lakes. So what gives ?

ps. I peeked into my neighbours yard and it’s under wter ,ankle deep.. my yard is well drained, not a puddle left.

the BOM would read their gauge at 9am…. so maybe 11mm since 9am? When did the rain start? And localised rain shadows plus rain-black-holes are commonplace.

Yes it’s measured in 24 hour increments from 9 am and it started very early, and we had 25 mls yest’, but what a difference. that’s some black hole then!

on the news:

Up to 100 homes near Tumbarumba in southern New South Wales are in imminent danger of being inundated as floodwaters continue to rise and a dam wall has started to crumble.

Tumbarumba Shire Council has issued an urgent alert to residents on the Mannus and Tooma creeks, downstream from the Mannus Lake, to evacuate immediately.

State Emergency Service spokesman James McTavish says the Mannus Dam could burst as the wall of the dams are eroding.

It may not have rained as much where the weather station is located…so our temps are about the same as the weather station’s (which is at the airport) but not always our rain measurement…the town itself is always hotter…

15mm of rain o’ernight has added delightfully to the 13mm we had the night before and the odd shower or two in the few days preceding. So 38mms for the month to date is fantastic for this time of year, and it means that I am not chasing my tail around trying to keep up with irrigating.

I only need a further 19mm to go past 1,500mm for the year.

Apart from the obvious dropping of trees/limbs etc, looks like you need to find some pallets and use them to stack shed stuff on them!

there are a couple of issues. the shed has stuff I brought up with me that I don’t really want but couldn’t leave it behind, and also some stuff of Miss N’s. Once that goes I will be able to organise it a bit better. But some good shelves would definitely help too. The other issue is there is a shallow open drain for the driveway which has become overgrown with grass and stops the water draining off properly and therefore backs up into the garage. I plant to dig the drain a bit deeper and clear it of the grass but haven’t gotten around to that yet. maybe even make a proper covered drain.

believe me, during a cyclone, the wind comes from one direction, and only one direction…. for the first 8 hours, then it shifts a little for 4 hours and then it shifts again for the last 8 hours…

That’s a monsoonal trough up the top…apparently we (not sure who “we” is but that’s by-the-by) are set for a wet winter as well, but the spring will be drier than usuall…which augers well for a successful winter crop harvest…

Yes looks like it. Very overcast outside….think most of the rain will evaporate before it gets to the ground.

No, I was reading about them last night, up around the Swan Hill area…3 weeks and their paddocks are still under…it’s bad, it’s bad…

and their houses and belongings. everything is rotting and apparently they have been the “sacrifice” to keep Swan Hill from flooding.
