For some not-so-bad viewing from Sydney today, here is a link to the Sea Eagle Live Stream.

This nest has been studied for more than 10 years, as researchers wanted to find whether toxins in the Parramatta River were problematic for the species.

These eagles lay two eggs every year, often with unexpected results. On this nest, the first eggs hatched yesterday.

Yep and right on schedule, looking through the history on that site they always hatch ~end of July.

I haven’t intentionally watched a game of rugby league since 1997 after the super league bullshit but even so my hate, no loathing, for Manly Warringah makes it impossible for me to even watch Sea Eagles in any form

More Australian nest cams:

Peregrine falcons at 367 Collins St Melbourne 367 Collins Falcons

Peregrine falcons at Charles Sturt University near Orange Box Cam, Falconcam Project

The Orange falcons have been busy trying to keep last year’s chick away from the nest.

He was carrying a prey item almost as big as himself. Impressive.

There is a problem with this nest cam, as one of the young sea eagles has become very aggressive towards it sibling. This same thing happened a few years ago and resulted in the death of the younger, weaker sibling. The cam’s operators have decided to not continue streaming at this time, as there are too many people who are overly upset by it, and many cannot appreciate why intervention is uncalled for. Most watchers are in the US and are used to watching Bald eagle nest cams, where the eagles have a slightly different instinct, and where the nests are ‘managed’ differently.
