Can you complete the sentence?

“I think slowly because … “

I know of only one person who thinks more slowly than I do, and that’s someone with a severe brain injury from a car accident. There are people who think at least ten times as fast as I do.

Every now and then I come up with a possible reason why I think so slowly, but I’m not happy with any of the explanations. So I’m asking to see if you come up with one of the explanations that I’ve guessed. Or something completely different.

Why do different people think at different speeds?

Maybe your thought velocity measurement procedures have a different benchmark when operating on thoughts inside your own head?

No.

Possibilities I’ve come up with over the years are:

You seem to be changing your story.

How do you know how quickly other people think ?

Neural firing rate related to depression, perhaps.
Or nutrition / drugs. Insufficient coffee?

For parallel processing.
I’m thinking partly about competition, too much neural activity of the wrong type, like the earworm.

Speed-accuracy trade-off. Nice of you to suggest that.
An example would bhe the inclusion of multiple self-checking feedback loops.

I’ll go along with:
C) Over-Thinking just about everything
I’m guilty of 2nd, 3rd & even 4th guessing myself, making decisions is a long slog.
