Baby Shark Born in All-Female Tank Could Be The First ‘Virgin Birth’ For Its Species

ALIA SHOAIB, BUSINESS INSIDER

30 AUGUST 2021

Scientists say a rare shark “virgin birth” may be the first of its kind after a baby shark was born in an all-female tank in an Italian aquarium.

The baby smoothhound shark, named Ispera, which means hope in Sardianian, was born at the Acquario di Cala Gonone in Sardinia, Italy, according to Italian outlet AGI.

You may well have. This 2001 event was reported in 2009:

Lone Parents: Parthenogenesis in Sharks

BioScience, Volume 59, Issue 7, July 2009, Pages 546–550, https://doi.org/10.1525/bio.2009.59.7.3

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parthenogenesis#Sharks

“Parthenogenesis in sharks has been confirmed in at least three species, the bonnethead, the blacktip shark, and the zebra shark, and reported in others.”

(And quite a bit more detail.)

If Jesus was a virgin birth then wouldn’t Jesus be a woman?

Was this virgin birth confirmed by DNA analysis? Some species have been known to save sperm for a long time.

There are fish species that change sex, and even some humans that change sex. Intersex as a possibility?

Are there branches of Christianity that accept that the physical father of Jesus was a real human man, Joseph probably?

What about Muslims, what do they think about the Virgin Mary business?

Why is Jesus being God’s son such a big deal anyway?

Aren’t we all supposed to be God’s children?

The surah of the Koran called Mary affirms that she was a virgin at the time of Jesus’ birth.

1 – There were, but these were declared heretics long ago and their writings banned and their churches and leaders suppressed.

2- I don’t know.

3- theologically, it is to make him the perfect sacrifice for sin. If he were human or animal the sacrifice would be unclean and not worthy of permanent redemption for the sins of all humanity.

1 Dunno. Was Joseph religious?
2 Dunno. If they like geometric then why not accept the human body as geometric?
3 Dunno. Who is Gods father and mother?
4 Dunno. How did God give birth if he is a man?

I don’t know about dv’s post’s shark, but the first (2001 – see my earlier post) was confirmed by DNA.

If Jesus knew he’d rise again then the sacrifice doesn’t really mean much
