What ever it is, it’s well engineered!
Looking forward to seeing if anyone knows..
It’s a bit hard without seeing the whole tree. There’s a few possibles. Do you know the flower colour?

Or do you mean the clump of dry leaves?

So what is it?? Was it a little nest built by some kind of insect??
there are several things it could be but location is probaby the best answer. Cooktown, it is possibly green tree ants which do build nests in the leaves.
Looking at the leaves is this a Robinia?

The tree could be one of several.
Without the bigger picture it’s only guess work.
It’s a green tree ant nest in a Tamarind.

I’ll go along with that.

There’s a Tamarind pod in the top right.

I suppose it could be that.
It is not a tamarind…
Not a green ants nest apparently.
I don’t reckon the bark on the trunk is the same on the little branches… will have to check out a Tamarind tomorrow.
you’re correct Dinetta0, I looked at a Tamarind today, and this ain’t one of ‘em.
Without seeing the whole tree it’s tricky but possibly a Peltophorum pterocarpum or a Schizolobium?

I remember living in Towntown back before PNG and I spotted this vine climbing over an arbour, and I found it in a book somewhere, and thought to myself “Excellent, now all I need to do is remember the name”.
Well I forgot, and bugger me if I can find the name again. Does anyone know what this is?

No :( I spotted this guy up at Paluma, while bird watching recently. Looking for birds can have its tangent advantages.

I bet the photo doesn’t do it justice.

I think I have come pretty close with the colouration. It was a striking plant, but then, the climate up at Paluma allows for some real pretty plants that I cannot grow down here on the plains.

Roaring Meg makes me think of Meg White, so that’s not a bad thing.

Different but pretty.
It looked like the spent blooms from a poppy at 100kph, but upon slowing and taking a photo, I have no idea myself….

I don’t know, it doesn’t bother us much as it’s not invasive…so we haven’t found out the name of it…there’s a weed book in the car so I’ll look that up later…
