Dark energy is well understood. Dark matter is not.

Um. It’s at least 15 years since I’ve heard the term “zero point energy”. I’ve forgotten what it means.

To tell the truth I don’t know. Dark energy is so tied up in general relativity, and zero point energy is so tied up in quantum mechanics that I don’t know how they relate to one another.
Dark energy appears as the constant Λ in the following equation from GR, or as an alternative term where it isn’t a constant.
