It is how they build those earth houses. But they usually back fill over the tyres. It doesn’t become part of the visual appeal.

Furthermore, my alarm clock has preset alarm times. Only need to program it in once. Alarm 1 is preset for work. Alarm 2 is for unusual circumstances where I have to get up earlier than usual. Most nights I only have to activate alarm 1 and I’m done.

Hard to believe that this is serious.
Is religion helping or hurting us?
Believers and non-believers alike agree on at least one thing: religion has had a tremendous influence on the history of humanity. But they generally disagree on everything else. Has religion been a net benefit or net cost to society? Are believers healthier and happier than non-believers? Can religion and science get along, or are they forever at odds? What truths, if any, can we learn from religion? Does God even exist? These questions have been debated for years, some for millennia. Here, you will see what the world’s smartest thinkers have to say about them.

I once pointed out that a worksite’s drug and alcohol policy was so poorly written that it didn’t even have a definition for “Drugs”. So they hastily made one up and released it. At which point I pointed out that their definition meant that all coffee had to be removed from site. Then they retracted the new policy.
I don’t know if they ever worked it out.

I had an ASIO interview for a TS clearance in 1983. The bloke asked me whether I’d ever taken drugs. “Shit loads’ was my reply. He wasn’t amused, I didn’t care :)

A gross underestimate.
But still:
“But you don’t have to worry about that six-micron sea level drop. The oceans are currently rising at about 3.3 millimeters per year due to global warming (through both glacial melting and thermal expansion of seawater).
At that rate (normalized for seasonal variation and short-term fluctuations), if you removed every ship from the ocean, the water would be back up to its original average level in 16 hours.”

We used to have one at home when I was a teenager. It belonged to my brother, but he no longer lived with us. Mergatroyd was white and very placid, I suppose like axolotls are, except for a moment at feeding time when he would grab the dangly piece of meat offered to him at lightning speed. I would jump every time. After a little while, I came up with a technique of tying a piece of thread to a tiny part of the piece of meat, so that it would break off when Mergatroyd grabbed it.

Surely that is mischaracterisation
and the best and richest capitalists are honestly simply doing what they can
to ensure responsible management of wealth, that is,
they know that they are far better economic managers than the impoverished (why else would others be impoverished),
and so it is only right and fair and really the most altruistic thing they could do to take wealth from these foolish others,
and all those foolish others will benefit far more from the management of wealth by the best and richest capitalists.

That seems to me to be inconsistent with what TRD’s saying. The exploiter can have communist, capitalist, fascist, or any other political or economic leaning; greed is a human characteristic common to all political/economic systems.

>Greedy men dislike free markets
So do capitalists, they tend to prefer monopolies.
So maybe the greedy men who dislike free markets are….the capitalists.

Well you can have laws against exploitation, that will greatly reduce it. The meme seems to be suggesting that’s pointless though.

I assume the meme is suggesting that capitalists do employ child labour in countries that don’t have such laws, and that’s why such laws are necessary.

Are all employers capitalists though?
let’s be fair and say that all authoritarian human rights violators are communists so clearly if they’re exploiting child labour they must be communists

Hey aren’t…
Aren’t lionesses maneless?
People also ask
Does a lioness has a mane?
Image result for lioness with mane
What causes a female lion to grow a mane?
Image result for lioness with mane
The lioness’ strange new hair-do is caused by elevated levels of the hormones cortisol and androstenedione, not testosterone as originally suggested. The elevated hormones are likely due to a benign tumor in her adrenal glands.21 Mar 2018

Gaelic is like that.
Someone once complained that they disliked French because you don’t pronounce all of the letters in all of the words.
You’d really hate Gaelic then, i told them.

Except for Jack. He fell down and broke his.

The man wrongly identified as the abductor of Carnarvon toddler Cleo Smith by 7 News says he was deeply distressed by the monumental mistake.
Terry Flowers also known by his mother’s name, Kelly, had his photo plastered all over social media yesterday in connection with the case of four-year-old Cleo Smith.
He told Ngaarda Media he was very excited to hear that Cleo had been found at a home in Carnarvon.
“I rang my partner and told her they found that baby, that girl. We was happy for her,” he said.
But soon after, while at Karratha hospital with his own child, he got another call.
“My sister rang me and told me they’ve got my photo up for the person who took the girl,” he said.
When he saw his photo on a social media post he went to the local police station for assistance.
The post was taken down but picked up by commercial television station Channel Seven.
“We seen it up on Channel 7 and Sunrise page. I got upset and went back into the police station,” he said.
“I ended up getting more upset and I had a panic attack in the police station.”
He was so distressed he ended up needing medical treatment.
“I got really upset yesterday. It put me in a state where I had to come into the hospital,” he said.
“They gave me drugs just to calm me down.”
He says the media outlet should have done its job properly.
“That stuff is not acceptable,” he said.
“What they did was go straight on Facebook. The first person they seen got through my photos and uploaded on social media, and spread it around, not just in Australia, this is worldwide.”
He says he’s been talking to lawyers about taking legal action.
“I want them to do their job more seriously, and professionally and I’m gonna end up suing them anyways, cause it’s not the right thing for them to be doing,” he said.
Seven News published an apology to its website on Wednesday night.
“Earlier on Wednesday 7NEWS wrongly showed images of a man that were incorrectly labelled as the person under arrest over disappearance of Cleo Smith,” it read.
“These were removed promptly, but 7NEWS apologises for the error.”
Terry said the mistake also had an impact on other family members
“It made my partner really upset. We’re trying to keep ourselves together to keep our baby strong,” he said.
“My mother, she’s really upset, she had people knocking on her door all day yesterday.”

fucking irresponsible media.
TW – suicide
there was a similar case in don’t fuck with cats where people (internet fuckheads) wrongly accused a guy of being the offender and he ends up topping himself…
another incident the same happened in the Elisa Lam investigation (though this person did not unalive themselves) … people go ahead and do a Facebook search and fuck it up but post unashamedly as well as troll the victim…
not only does it do damage to an innocent person, it fucks up investigations and, if they are correct, it can completely destroy a case in court…

Wilf Cushnie
Bob Howard I have a feeling that Jesus was a pretty good little baby boy and didn’t cry too much and probably helped his mom in the kitchen and his dad in the carpenter shop. He probably learned how to get dressed and clean up his room and when his little brothers were born he probably helped with them too. I’ll bet he had a lot of good times with his little baby brothers … No doubt, Joseph was pretty proud of him and encouraged him.
No doubt Joseph watched over him and taught him as much as he could about making things and managing the carpentry and wood working business. The family must have done pretty well and Joseph seemed to be able to get as much work as he needed as the family got bigger and bigger. I like the story of Jesus and the wine at the wedding…. How the “best” wine had been saved until last.
What many people don’t know maybe … is that wine was (often) stored in double chambered wooden wine barrels. The wooden barrels were constructed with an inner and outer chamber and sealed off from each other. Wine was put into the inner chamber and water into the outer chamber to keep the inner chambered wine cool and only allow for a slow temperature change when being moved from place to place. The inner wine kept well and aged well when there was a slow or maybe almost non-existent temperature change … and when the variety was also an excellent variety. … all part of the best technology in production of fine wines.
There was another aspect of this too. The Romans charged a tax on the import and export and movement of wine in the Empire. So, wine barrels were double lined with water on the outside … no tax on water …. and the inner wine was hidden from inspectors who were set up along the travelled roadways. That way, wine could get past the tax inspectors when hidden in the inner chambers. So, obviously Jesus learned from his father how to make these double lined wooden barrels … and he must have been very skilled at it too.
Turning the “water into wine” did not require any magic. Just a little bit of engineering and intelligence. The comment in the Bible is a wonderful picture of life at that time. Jesus, realized that the party was in need of more wine for the guests and so he opened up some “water barrels” that had fooled everyone … they all thought these were water barrels only …. and he … probably without giving away the secret of the inner chamber …. he was able to share this wonderful wine with the wedding guests … Now, you know the real story behind the wedding wine ….

There are a lot pervy men out there and most women understandably don’t feel safe having to share toilets with potential flashers, rapists etc.
It’s strange that we’re all expected to be more concerned about women’s safety these days, except in contexts of clear potential danger.
