Subject: My long-sightedness

A little reluctant to post this as last time on this subject DV blasted me for being some numb-nut contributor called “Eyes”: :) yeah, it still stings :(

My sight is failing, hyperopia.

I’m waiting for the degradation to stabilise before going for glasses. Good idea or bad idea? It’s been noticeable for a few months… steadily getting worse.

Don’t wait for anything to “stabilise”. Go to a GP, get a referral to a specialist.

I can’t comment. I have no knowledge in this area. Ask about rocks, however…

+1

You’re supposed to update your glasses regularly anyway.

Go to an optometrist. The optometrist can assess what exactly is going on and either prescribe glasses if that is required, or refer you to a specialist if that is necessary.

Trust buffy.

I haven’t heard of this. Most people’s eyes tend to get more longsighted as they get past their 50s. So this could be just a normal rendency towards longer sight with age. Or not.

Just keep up the prescription as needed.

… or …

Get multiple sets of glasses with different prescriptions online from a place like optically or visiondirect. The cost is very much less than going to a storefront, starting at $33 each rather than starting at $250 each. Then choose whatever set best meets your needs at the time.

Ooh I just got new glasses!

No glasses: can’t read computer
Old glasses: migraine after 45 mins
New glasses: can read *and * work all day! If I look too quickly from reading to around the room, I feel a bit motion sickness. But I assume that’s my brain getting used to the glasses.

Long sighted + astigmatism in right eye.

Glasses instore started at $120. I got my prescription, bought online = $36 incl shipping. Five days from order to delivery.

Good!

I have an unrelated question.

Missy gets severe tension headiches from reading even one page of text. So she can’t read any more.

Is there any reason other than eyesight why this may be so?

Bi-glasses, they have two different lenses, top lens are normal, bottom are magnifying.

Check eyes first. It’s a quick and easy thing to check and eliminate.
