Isn’t that just fly spray.

I think they are talking about both insecticidal and repellency aspects.

Ta. If you want an insect repellant, don’t but an “insect repellant”, buy an “insect killer” insecticide.
The mossies and other pests are smart enough to avoid insecticides.

> Pyrethrum extracts from flower heads of Chrysanthemum spp
So if I want to stop being bitten by insects I should plant Chrysanthemums?
> Pyrethrins exert potent insecticidal activities by hyper-activating insect voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby causing rapid paralysis, known as knockdown, and eventual lethality
> In this behavioral assay, mosquitoes are attracted to a human hand in a modified glove
The aerogard commercial was real science?
> These results clearly show contact-independent, smell-based repellency of pyrethrum
I wonder if mosquitos have to be trained to avoid pyrethrum? ie. they know it’s smelly, but do they know it’s dangerous if they’ve never encountered it before? For an answer, take those mosquitos not repelled by the smell and allow them to contact pyrethrum. Then take those that have survived the contact and see if they’ve learnt to avoid the smell.
> we provide strong evidence that pyrethrum exerts spatial repellency through a novel, dual-target mechanism.
I don’t actually follow what they mean by a “dual-target mechanism”. Are they saying that AaOr31 and Or31 are the same or different?
