Subject: Indoor Plants

Just came across a link to this TED talk about indoor plants and air quality (text at the bottom if you won’t want to watch the video)

Very interesting.. I’ll try to remember to come back to this info with the new house. Not sure I could keep that many indoor plants alive though!!

I’m here to tell you that the mother-in-law’s tongue will grow in a soil-less pot with almost no watering…if you grew it hydroponically you would be forever repotting the damn thing at a rate of knots…

I see where it’s 6 – 8 plants per bedroom…who wants a plant with that name in the bedroom?

I’ll just call it “spiky plant” :D

What happens if you just don’t repot it? would the size stabilize?

Yes it does…well mine do, only because I don’t water them until they look shrivelled

Sounds like my approach to watering :)

One thing to be careful of is that two of the plants on that last are toxic to pets, I think, so might have to be raised up out of dog reach…

Well there’s that, but how prone are your dogs to munching on plants? I’ve got lots of toxic plants and the dogs take no notice…

So far, she’s pretty good – but she has started developing mischievous tendencies lately (i.e. taking random objects, like umbrellas or beanies outside), so I’d give it a bit of consideration – but not overly much.

I think I’d have nightmares with that many plants in the bedroom. I will get a couple of those listed though, for the patio.
