In case people didn’t see party_pants’ handiwork, I’ve scavenged the original post from last night’s chat.

“I made a thing today.

Not quite happy with it yet: needs to be lower, and needs to lean back a little bit more.”

A motorized fold out chair would be cool, a motor attached to the rod device.

Remote controlled of course.

I hope that helps.

The timber is that cheap but lightweight, somewhat brittle, white Vietnamese furniture timber. I have no idea of its name. If I wanted to replicate these, I’d probably use Surien (Surian, Asian Mahogany), a Filipino timber that is lightweight and genetically identical to Australian Red Cedar (Toona ciliata).

Any other measurements or detail, just ask.

I have a similar (but newer) folding wooden table in the studio.

Awesome Mr V. I didn’t get anything done on it today, been a bit busy with other stuff. My cousin and child were flying back to Cairns this evening. so it was a bit of a last minute catch up with them, and then a bit of shopping and domestic stuff. Will have a look into it next weekend.

Love the design with the slide bit. With mine the cross-pieces just rest against each other to provide the locked position.

A couple of coats of decking oil. Angles adjusted to what “feels” comfy. I have made the back rest a little bit higher and bigger than it needs to be, so it makes the seat the small in proportion. I think for the next one I will make the seat and backrest slats the same size.

Very nice.
It looks like it’s made for someone with short legs but long body.

I like to lean back, with my legs stretched out forwards.
