Merry Christmas everybody.

The chief sushi-roller is rolling up a storm (and swearing a lot, too). I’ve been cutting stuff up to make myself useful, a bit.

The Borgo ham is carved and ready to eat.

Steve the Weatherman is doing something special with salmon and a large turkey and potatoes cooked in duck fat.

Mrs V nicked off to bed so she didn’t have to cut stuff up for sushi.

Our meal tonight cooked by Woodie, consisted of a giant beef cutlet, each. Huge. Cooked to perfection. With salad. But I couldn’t eat the salad, as the lump of beef was so large I was filled to overflowing. I’ll have the salad for breakfast.

We might sit up for a few more minutes to see whether we have been good enough for Santa to come.

The pass was made famous by Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, where, termed as “the Borgo Pass”, it was the gateway to the realm of Count Dracula. Stoker most likely found the name on a contemporary map; he never actually visited the area.

Today the pass is home to Hotel “Castel Dracula”; located at an elevation of 1,116 m (3,661 ft), the hotel was built in 1976 and adopted its current name after 1989. The hotel has become quite an attraction due to its architectural style of a medieval villa, as well as the connection to the novel. In 2018 the property was put up for sale.

Looks like my neighbour opposite has had her christmas covided. A group turned up in a car, went and knocked on the door and then ran back outside the fence to wait. The neighbour came to the door wearing a mask. They all waived at each other, conversed for a few minutes, and then they drove off.

It’s a sign of the times.

The duck was good. I have decided we must eat too well normally. That meal wasn’t really any different from a normal meal around here. Except that we don’t usually eat a big meal in the middle of the day.

I’m going to siesta before eating trifle for dessert. To think I used to be able to eat a three course meal. They would have to be very small serves to manage that these days.

The Brookie Hall do was good. Most that has ever been there, 12. 1 beer and 4 schnapps.

I can’t see why Richardson got dropped and replaced by Boland. No offence to Boland. But Richardson replaced Cummins and did a good enough job. Now Cummins is back but Hazelwood is out, surely you’d give the guy another go to build up his game, not drop him for a first-gamer.
