IIRC, the “ton force” was an acceptable unit back in the old days.

Yeah. Bear in mind though that this advisor has been with him for a decade, going back to when he was Mayor of Swindle-Upon-Thames. She was responsible for a lot of crap and bullshit, along with being one of the big culture warrior types. It is hard to imagine such a person taking a moral stance on anything after a decade of immoral (or at least amoral) behaviour. I can only conclude there is something else behind it.

I guess there is that. But I lost any religion I had over 50 years ago, and I remembered the ark was made of wood. Admittedly I had to do a search to find what kind of wood, I couldn’t remember that.

Otherwise, they might ask themselves that when you get together a crowd of people who don’t believe that illnesses are as easily transmitted as they’re told they are, who think that things like masks and sanitising are superfluous, in places with insufficient toilets, in the blazing summer sun, might there not be less exotic causes of problems than an ‘LRAD’?

And if you use anaesthetic drops it slows down the healing.
It can also happen working on a gal roof all day, as well as the burnt bits up your shorts…

My year 12 physics teacher said he’d been doing an experiment involving UV radiation in third year in his university physics course while the people who were supposed to be supervising him were “at the pub” (sic); he wasn’t wearing any kind of eye protection, and burnt his cornea. He likened it to sunburn, and said he can’t go outside on a bright day without sunglasses without severe pain.

Not really. The plastic they are made from has a small UV filtering ability. Actually, quite a big UV filtering ability, but not enough for welding. But then again, I haven’t checked the newer plastics. Back when everything was CR39, after we dumped glass, I checked it all out and the CR39 was very significantly better than glass at UV blocking.

Having done a bit of arc welding, I can say that unless you have some time on the machine it is pretty easy to accidentally touch the end of the rod to the piece, thus making a flash. The rod will then often melt itself to the part, but it’s still very hot so you can wiggle the torch handle around to break contact again.
You also need both hands to do it properly, you can’t steer the rod anywhere near smoothly enough with just one hand on the torch, you need to hand onto the rod with the other to steer it. An auto-darkening helmet is a must and again they can take a little getting used to.|
But one thing we can mostly agree on is that Morrison is a total dickhead.

I have to admit that if I haven’t used the auto helmet in a while, I sometimes forget to use the test button so on that first zap (I use a TIG now, so not as bright as arc typically) occasionally I find out the hard way that the battery is flat. I rarely forget to check now.

That may depend on how keen Spud Dutton is to promote himself as a contender to replace Scotty, who the Liberals must realise is just an albatross around their neck.
As Scotty has gone rather quiet just now, earnestly hoping not to screw anything else up before he calls the election, it may be that Spud will start big-noting himself, and talking a whole lot about things he knows nothing about. Others may do the same.
While he still has the job, Scotty will have to follow along and try to clean up the mess, and will be further tarnished by his proximity to it. Plus his own talent for putting his foot in it.

For the relief of fat-bottomed girls. If a scientific discovery is published in a recognised and respected journal, but if authority figures who would use the information strongly disagree, they just ignore it and make no changes that might be expected if it were confirmed.
Doesn’t make it not true.
It is a sad ending though.
This is not me. I repeat not me.

Isn’t it a map of Russia?

?
It’s the masked West poking a united Russia with a stick, vainly trying to provoke “revolution”.

It’s not the West. It’s the author. The “C’mon Do Something” stock meme format is used to express a personal wish.

OK, a poor cartoon that’s very easy to misinterpret.
In real life of course, Russia is far from united and most ordinary Russians would strongly disapprove of Putin’s latest craziness.
Their problem is not lack of hostility towards their own government, but lack of courage and lack of hope.
People power can be difficult to summon when the people are accustomed to generations of spirit-sapping autocracy.

For real though seems like Putin’s ouster or death is the only good way out of this

true. Probably better to avoid easy mistakes at times like this.
