Our old mate Langy has taken a picture of an antigen test box.
He wants to know what the symbol with the capital sigma in a triangle means.

So combined with the crossed-out 2 it indicates that the package contains between 1 and less than two tests?

clearly it says the sum of all the ones (but not 2s) taking at 2 deg Celsius will make you booksmart and waterproof.

given it was posted over mardi gras night surely it’s more like some statement about using barrier protection against single sigma males and avoiding pairbonding and it’s probably safer to use your imagination with a magazine until the rod is standing vertically as the temperature climbs from 275 K or such

. I live to serve. Probably time I tackle the zodiac code now.
Mrs m hasn’t even yet learnt to identify any of these symbols!

Can we stop with the freaking symbols on everything please and use words.
It’s much worse than trying to learn a new language.

Symbols are a good international language, although if you are not part of an industry can be not understood. This is an industry by industry knowledge mostly, but many everyday symbols are well known and understandable no matter what language you speak. So in fact are better than words.

No, actually. Symbols are a completely new language incompatible with all familiar languages. So have to be learnt one symbol at a time.
As for consistency across multiple languages, we don’t want it or need it. Just imagine if your last past was only permitted to be transferred by symbols.
ie. Translate “Symbols are a good international language, although if you are not part of an industry can be not understood. This is an industry by industry knowledge mostly, but many everyday symbols are well known and understandable no matter what language you speak. So in fact are better than words. “ Translate that into the language of symbols as see how far you get.

we said
nah it’s all good we’re glad we’re all agreed
shut it
I like big Symbols the ones that make loud noise when you hit them together.
Ok, I’ll use words to explain the symbols in order.
1) ਤਾਕਤ
2) لعب
3) hraðspóla
4) முன்னாடி
5) kū
6) הַפסָקָה
There, that’s much easier to understand.
Or did you mean using words on machines used around the world in your own language because it’s easier for you, instead of learning a few simple symbols used worldwide?
