This week, my LNP candidate for Herbert has sent me sh*t in the mail every single day. What a waste of resources. Does he have a freakin’ timber pulp mill in Burnie or something? He’s a git who stands on the side of the Herbert Roads, and waves at cars. He weighs around the Kim Beazley, Robert Ray kinda girth and he should be walking those Roads, not standing and waving. The seat of Herbert has been Peter Lindsays (the current retiring LNP candidate) for some time now, so you would call this a relatively safe Liberal seat.
The Labor candidate was Mayor here for 19 years, his enemy Condon will tell you that Mooney earned 2.2million in wages during that time and did sweet FA for the rest. Mooney seems to be good mates with Gillard and Captain Bligh.
The Green candidate thought they said Greek Party, and he signed up with Yiros and Ouzo at the ready.
Both Fanta Pants and Budgie Smuggler are not leaders, in fact, they’re not Leader’s Aresholes. The Australian people are finally being asked to decide between Mum and Dad. Mr and Mrs (Effin’) non-charisma.
Get out there this Saturday and make your vote count…. Eeee-awww, eee-awww, eeee-awww.

Reading the news.. the budge smugglers proposal to let uni students pay some off their hecs fees by becoming a volunteer for the community.
Now your average uni student, unless they are born with the silver soon in the mouth thing, work their butts off in menial jobs in order to live, many forgoing decent meals, and bagging mum and dad for food to keep what little they earn to pay the rent.
So exactly what spare time do they have for volunteering ?
I know my uni student girl doesn’t have time. She’s up early, gets her son ready for school with a healthy lunch and boots off to the city to uni. Can’t take the train because they never run on time. Then she finishes at 2 pm , boots back home , collects her son, feeds him an early meal then off to her nursing arvo shift until 11 pm. Then she studies half the night.

I’ve been dirty for a long time, about the fact that the politicians who said (the same one that got rid of compulsory student unions…as we all know these fees paid for a lot of the “free” or reduced price stuff on campus) “OK, the students can pay for their tertiary education” are the same ones who achieved their uni degrees under Gough Whitlam’s free tertiary education scheme…some of my employees are 10 years paying off their HECS (and now mis-named “HELP”)…it comes out of their estates if they die before paying it off…oh I think it stinks…Students are meant to be students: that’s their occupation…the crud about working in the workforce outside the uni walls, just to feed themselves, is wrong IMO…they say “oh the yanks do it” but would the Yanks be better off if they offered free or minimal cost tertiary education to all who are capable of it? I think so…

Thing I’m not Understanding is what this Hung Prime Minster or what they are saying?
A Hung Parliament means that neither of the major parties has a majority in the House of Reps. So at the moment it stands at 71 seats each, with the Independents with 3 seats and the Greens with 1.
So if Australia needs a decision made in the next three years, the party faithful at the Labs and the Libs will not be able to decide… so they’ll need support from the Indies and the Greenies.

See how Bob has 51% of the votes, that’s the primary count. So on all those green bits of paper, Bob has got a ‘1’ on 51% of all of ‘em. So, in reality, the counters don’t even need to go to the preferences, he has his seat by a majority on primary votes. Good strong position to be in.

on that site, you can even check out how the votes went at the very polling booth you voted in. I can see that at my local Primary School, we voted for Tony Mooney over the fat-waving-guy but in general Herbert voting it looks like the fat-waving-guy will win the seat.

Interestingly, and I didn’t know this before, Bob Katter Snr was ALP to start with…but they are both passionate about their electorate (Mr Katter Snr has passed away this many a year tho’) so Mr Katter Snr converted to the Country Party and there he stayed…Bob Katter Jnr became disenchanted with this because of the lack of support for his electorate, and became an Independent (had been a Qld State parliamentarian previously) and because he works so diligently in his electorate, is returned consistently with thumping majorities…

there has been too much political emphasis on slick spin and city solicitors.
i think we could try to emphasize the importance of the countryside to all.
it wouldn’t hurt if we broke down the party lines and got a bit of independent thinking. i saw the 4 corners summary of the GFC – and our economic system is counterfeit capitalism propped up by taxpayers money/ borrowings.

Interesting tale about the Katters: Mr Katter Snr and his second wife (I believe the first had passed away) and the family were flying to Mt Isa when an air hostess asked if the children “would like to step outside and play?” So I guess the grots were called to order soon after that…
I once took a flight with Bob Katter Jr and his hat. He behaved himself.

This is true, although wasn’t his old man a National Party Member or was that a Country Member?
Interestingly, and I didn’t know this before, Bob Katter Snr was ALP to start with…but they are both passionate about their electorate (Mr Katter Snr has passed away this many a year tho’) so Mr Katter Snr converted to the Country Party and there he stayed…Bob Katter Jnr became disenchanted with this because of the lack of support for his electorate, and became an Independent (had been a Qld State parliamentarian previously) and because he works so diligently in his electorate, is returned consistently with thumping majorities…

Umm, I should imagine he’s had 60 years to reform his behaviour between then and your flight?
Hard to believe he’s 65…he doesn’t really look it, does he? Or is he younger in photos than in real life?

It were 5 year ago that I saw ‘im, and I reckon’ he looked 60 then. But then again, I sat next to John Eales on that flight and he is a man-mountain!

I’ve been doing the math, and the flight incident would relate to the second family as BK Jr would have been in his 20’s at the time…wow you sat next to John Eales!

Mr Katter senior went to school with my late M-I-L and used to visit them when MrBL was small. He told M-I-L that young Bob was a bit mad. LOL
