Sorry it was just our prototype for trolling, every game is randomised (not daily shared), and it simply involves guessing the sequence of 5 instructions that the LOGO Turtle emulation follows. Parts of the path are coloured according to whether they match the target path.

Of course nobody here grew up in the 1960s so nobody knows Wally Feurzeig, Seymour Papert, or Cynthia Solomon.

That was a quick & easy one.

The one thing I do like about Quordle is that if you put in a word it will turn red before you hit enter telling you that it is a baddy word :)

I think quordle must have a much higher failure risk than wordle. With wordle I think with sensible basic play you can always keep in 6 and under. Second time on quordle and again I’m in deep shit after 5 moves. I think I might have to competely change my strategy.

This is the method I use with the starters STERN, PLAID and COUGH, and I feel that three words is a good balance. Occasionally, I will try to get my teeth stuck in after the first two, with no luck so far scoring a 6.

Four starters, I think, unnecessarily takes all the fun out of the game, without increasing the chance of finishing. I almost always score a 7 or 8.

On the other hand:
quordle doesn’t choose words randomly from this list but instead select only from a list of common words. Not expecting to see abele, amowt, berko, cukes in the answers list (even though those words are accepted as guesses). It might be that the statistical properties of the “easy” words in quordle are different. Also some letters might be more valuable because they are more likely to show up multiple times in a word, so are more likely to give green off the bat. Also, s ain’t quite so important, because they don’t do plurals.

On the other other hand:
I think quordle tries to make it difficult. Seems to use words with repeated letters more than you’d expect, seems to use the rarer letters more than you’d expect. Q should come up once in 30 games, Z should come up once in 8 games, but we’ve had two Z and a Q since the weekend. Also too many K or V. But I’ve only been tracking a little while, perhaps I picked a bad spot.

On the foot, I think my thane pious strategy isn’t great. Doesn’t include r or l, both very common.

IDK I’ve been finding wordle fun even though I can’t fail. It’s still a diversion.

I’ll go with decal minty pours for a while and so how that goes.

The other thing is that starting with thane, I’m never going to get a bar of green on turn 1, since that’s not a common word by any stretch.

I have changed my starters for Quordle. SHARE, MOUNT, PIGGY. Not quite happy with the last one as it contains an unnecessary double, but I am still thinking about another word from the letters I have left.

SHARE MOUNT PICKY got me 4,5,6,7 today.

Happy with that.
