TIL that the flag of the Arab revolt against the Ottoman Empire was designed by Sir Mark Sykes of the infamous Sykes-Picot agreement. This flag is the basis for the modern flags of Libya, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Iraq, Palestine, Somaliland, Yemen, Kuwait, Sudan, Syria and the Sahrawi Republic.
