For shaking paint, obviously.
Standard office equipment, just like desks, chairs, pens, photocopier, paper, thermic lances, filing cabinets, cupboards.

The advent of the steam pump greatly improved the drainage of the Fens in East Anglia and the East Midlands, leading to about 1000 sq km of arable and habitable land being added to England.
The name Holland makes up part of several places in that area (The Holland Fen, South Holland, Parts of Holland) and you might think there would be some connection to the place in the Netherlands that has also done a bit of land reclamation, but apparently it is unrelated: the British name is from roots meaning hill, and the Dutch is from different roots meaning wooded area.

Its been great seeing my 1st granddaughter her mom and son again too.
1st Granddaughter is still a little stand offish but I got her to sit with me for a while today as we looked through photos of family back home. Its really weird, she looks almost lIke my son did at that age but is a little yank sounding sprite. It must be hard for her to understand who we are after us just being the people she sees once a week on the computer.
Tomorrow we are going to the local zoo. Its supposed to be like -4c here tomorrow morning so unless we are seeing polar bears and penguins I dunno how that’s gunna work out.
Still working up the nerve to drive here. Still a bit of snow and ice about so I dunno might wait a bit and see
Already brewed a batch of beer with my son so that was the best even though we screwed up the recipie in converting it to his brew system.
I already miss my kids and Grandaughter mback home.
Couldn’t help but check my work emails and sort out what needs sorting though. OCD.

friend of mine who is a primary school principle told the kids at morning assembly that some of the water fountains had been replaced by Coke, Fanta and Sprite dispensers. Anyway much excitement from the kids. Teachers were in on it too of course and the kids were not allowed to try it till morning recess. Many dashed out at recess time to be the first in line.
Now on the Zeffer cider from New Zealand, their “Apple Crumble Infused” offering.
And while the first impression from both nose and tongue is indeed “apple crumble!”, the second impression is “hair product”…
I suspect this is a strange result of the particular blend of acidic apple fruit, cinnamon and alcohol.
Hard to describe exactly but there’s a definite hairdresser hair product taste going on here.
Their Rosé Cider with Berry Infusion that I’ve tried before is much better and highly recommended (it’s also very strong stuff).

Anyway, she’s making Ukrainian dolls which will be sold through the shop sister’s shop with proceeds going to Ukraine.
I dunno. The info is on the poster anyway.

Doing my regular re-watch of The Devil Rides Out (1968), a very atmospheric horror outing of its time, directed by Terence Fisher and featuring a memorable performance by Charles Gray.
One of Christopher Lee’s favourite films and one of the few in which he plays the good’n.

Slightly bitchy bio of Mr Lee on the eve of his knighthood. He was, after all, a Tory to the core :)

Scientists have created a moving magnetic slime capable of encircling smaller objects, self-healing and “very large deformation” to squeeze and travel through narrow spaces.
The slime, which is controlled by magnets, is also a good electrical conductor and can be used to interconnect electrodes, its creators say.
The dark-coloured magnetic blob has been compared on social media to Flubber, the eponymous substance in the 1997 sci-fi film, and described as a “magnetic turd” and “amazing and a tiny bit terrifying”.

I arrived at work this morning, and it had rained yesterday. What was a shiny bobcat bucket on Friday arvo, now looked like a tabby cats back.
There is some science in those shapes, but I have no idea how it works.
Stupid phone, it uploads shit sideways sometimes for no reason.
Anyway, if you have punctures regularly, you can buy some product that stops leaks permanently. But at some point you should realize that you need to actually buy some new tires.

Some of the toys that were in the shop while I was trying to fix an 18 speed road ranger gearbox.
This was the tag on the winch of the Unimog. I don’t understand the breaking load measurements.
Then I had to go to a hydraulic hose expert, they were also a large engineering workshop where I found these bits of metal just laying around in the yard.

Sometimes when you are driving a loader, it makes unusual noises. And then it eats a valve.
This is expensive. But I get to keep a souvenir.

Actually 2 decametres because you have odd and even numbers on each side. So around about 20m frontage.

I think the way I have written it is correct. in the country you get the nearest odd or even to your driveway as the property size can be quite large.

and I doubt they use that system in the suburbs. it is for emergency services and replaces the rather ad hoc lot numbers, rmbs, etc that were in use before and had no rhyme or reason.

My sisters’ place was numbered on such a system.

larger than a suburban block though? I mean you just can’t use that system on blocks smaller than the measurement otherwise you’d end up with 12.5 etc. It is measured from the nearest corner to a bigger road I believe and tell you how far from that corner you are.

No, it wouldn’t work in suburbia with block sizes smaller than 20m frontage. I think those just get numbered per house.

Oh, the old dropped valve syndrome.

gather they 4×4 with steering brakes, wondering how may differentials they have

Good morning Holidayers. Presently 5 degrees and overcast. We did manage a little rain yesterday, probably around 8mm over the day and night. Our forecast for today is for a cloudy 17 degrees, maybe a couple of mm more rain.
I will be driving the dogs to the Koroit Pet Resort this morning. I have to be there between 10.00am and noon. But first, some breakfast and then a wander to the bakery.
