New Hive

Between super (box) and Lid.

All of this is the Honey comb, it’s that dark because its a few years old it also all needed to be removed for the next box to sit on top correctly.

Then I added another box.

This is all the Comb Sitting next to my smoker and Hive tool, will way it up and drain the Honey out to eat.

that’s me in my bee suit back in January this year, With a frame from the nuc boxes, I was pointing out a queen cell.

May notice all the gear, is in good condition.

then myself again same day holding a Honey frame from one of the first two hives.

Just checked the with the Candler Non Have started to develop, So they are infertile or she has just started to sit, I’ll be taking them off her, Might put half of them in to the Incubator to get them going as layers.

Just came in for the afternoon well watched GA while eating tea. Have been up near the iron bark thats in flower spying on the bats eating Pollen (flying between our tree and a couple over the road) ours is about 80m’s or less from the road, Then went to find the Guinea fowl as dad reckons it be good if they sleep in the tree, so got there Rooster mate and Placed in into a fruit tree Mulberry to be correct. Went to find the Guinea fowl Only one was up near the tanks, went and took a little walk around (still had my hard hat and Mines light going). Go to check near the Bee Hives (grass is about knee high in this paddock all trees around to) walk past hive number 1 past a small tree Something Brushed up against my boot here’s this Guinea fowl laying in the Long grass jumping up to run off in the other direction. Thought it was a snake.
Positive news one that was laying down out in the paddocks laying eggs seen a Clutch of 10 eggs out in the Goats holding pen. Found the fresh eggs looks like I’ll be having guinea fowl eggs for breaky.

Rhode Island Red. In the past they have been ok with brooding but in recent years have had more success with the incubator. Seem to get a higher percentage of roosters with the incubator though

Ok, I discussed this with Yeehah Yesterday and we came up with a Couple of different Methods. Method Number 1:
Chooks go onto garden bed after a Bracsis/leaf crop and then let it rest and put some Sulfate of Potash and then plant a root crop.

Method 2: Chooks goes onto bed After a crop of Beans, and then Bracsis/leaf crops goes into that bed.

Method 3: (vegs was thinking at work)
I so some Poultry fodder seeds (some mix) and then put the Pen over it they clean it up and then plant my Silver Beat into it. This one here would act as a green Manure crop.

All Methods the Garden beds get a rest and the chooks get to get in there and clean it up, Shall help me with digging over the beds, and add compost to it.

Ok, I discussed this with Yeehah Yesterday and we came up with a Couple of different Methods. Method Number 1:Chooks go onto garden bed after a Bracsis/leaf crop and then let it rest and put some Sulfate of Potash and then plant a root crop.Method 2: Chooks goes onto bed After a crop of Beans, and then Bracsis/leaf crops goes into that bed.
Method 3: (vegs was thinking at work)
I so some Poultry fodder seeds (some mix) and then put the Pen over it they clean it up and then plant my Silver Beat into it. This one here would act as a green Manure crop.
All Methods the Garden beds get a rest and the chooks get to get in there and clean it up, Shall help me with digging over the beds, and add compost to it.

have you got rotating chook pens now VG?

Got the A-frame, rest are out in the Main pens or the chook paddock.

i see. it should work well
clean up the bugs as well as prepare the soil.

i think any fast growing crop is a good idea and your green manure crop is also good. so they all work. no reason to just have one method.

you are good at growing peas so they are a nice low crop to pull the aframe over.

between Peas and Dwarf Beans, I think the chooks would Enjoy getting in there and cleaning the bed up.
