Subject: Crytozoology - Yowie

What do you know about the Yowie?

We’re now at that stage where the most famous examples of cryptozoology are nearing a final explanation.

eg.
Kraken – Giant squid or Colossal squid.
Yeti – Extinct Himalayan brown bear.
Bigfoot – Man in costume.
Bunyip – Bittern.
Loch Ness monster – IMHO a mating dance of ~10,000 eels.
Lake monsters and sea serpents – probably ditto, or perhaps a bait ball.

I started thinking about the Yowie only last night.

What have you heard about it?

Yowies are sometimes described as having no neck, chin or forehead, which suggests a possible similarity to the Blemmyes?

They are the spookiest bird in the wetlands.

I disagree. The Bush stone-curlew call is far, far spookier.

Yeah but I don’t get them here.

Yeah but I don’t get them here.

That’s surprising. You are within their range.

I lived in a rice paddock half my life, never heard or saw them. Saw Bolgas and all sorts of things like Terns.

For real cryptozoology, consider stygofauna.
