Subject: Watch question

There are some watch experts on the forum.

I need to buy a womens watch for mrs m. Has to be rugged and accurate. Ideally one where the battery lasts two years or longer.

Last purchase was a Fossil, which was awful because it died in six months due to the band failing. I want one that will still be running accurately in 20 years.

Second last was Guess, which only lasted a little longer than that.

Someone suggested Breda. This sort of style.

When KMart sell chinese watches for less than the cost of a replacement battery in a proper watch, it is tempting to go Chinese.

A Lorus.
Does it run slow?
Just kidding.

Lorus looks good quality, good price!
Mostly man-size dial, which we don’t want.

Three of these four look possible. :-) Who sells them?
Not Prouds, WatchDirect or GetPrice.

Get a smart watch. They are much more useful than a conventional watch.

I have a Samsung Galaxy watch. You can make and answer phone calls on it (just like Dick Tracy), receive and answer emails and sms, use it as a fitness tracker, control the camera in a Samsung phone & etc, etc, etc…

If you don’t like the watch face then you can simply download another a few more. The watch band is also designed to be very easy to swap to match your style.

Apple and Samsung watches are designed to connect and extend their functionality from a corresponding phone. So, if you have an Apple phone get an Apple watch, a Samsung phone get a Samsung watch, or just get one of the many other brands of smartwatch and hope for the best.

I’m sure Douglas Adams is watching all this from below with great amusement, but I have to admit, the point of getting emails on a watch, when you need a mobile to make the watch work, escapes me entirely.

you could carry a dumb portable computer around and use the watch as a connection to your phone which would be the server.

No way.
I’ve just borrowed “dummies guide to smart phones” from the library,
because mrs m’s smart phone has been driving her up the wall.
