because the selling point of modern economics is that growth is dependent on demand, rather than on supply

A lot of ‘supply chain problems’ are real, that’s for certain.

Some are not so real.

‘Supply chain problems’ are also a useful tool for the big supermarket chains. They tell their suppliers that they just can’t take the suppliers’ products right now because of the problems. If the supplier is willing to drop their price to the supermarkets a bit, either because they get the hint or out of desperation, then, behold! the supply chain problems disappear!

anyway yes it kind of supports our contention that the relative abundance of supply in the recent past masked that fact and allowed this focus on demand hence enabling the squander and greed that we have seen

induced demand kind of applies differently to necessary spending compared to discretionary spending

Consumption is king. The whole world economy relies upon consumption. If there is not somebody somewhere that will buy your goods or services you have no business. Supply is secondary.

I contemplaties the possibility consumerocracy has some problems, it’s got wobbly, unstable, perhaps even expanded where it ought not be
