This is what happens and will continue to happen, as the population is grown by the decisions of big business and politicians. Not only does this lower your standard of living, but totally destroys the homes of the native plants and animals that once lived there.

My beef with using coal is that it spews radioactive isotopes and heavy metals everywhere. Diesel and petrol cause particulates in the air ( we are breathing it on) / nitrous oxides that cause breathing issues. Burning VAST amounts of fossils fuels is bad for the environment no matter how you slice it.
