Subject: Music Question - Freedom

Urgently need some music about “freedom” to be played on piano.

Best so far “Born free” – but yuk.

Second best “Ride like the wind” – Chris Cross

Also rejected:
“I want to break free”, Queen
“Freedom”, George Michael
“I want to be free”, Soap Dragons

And lots of others rejected.

Any ideas? Will consider classical and jazz as well as popular.

No, I meant Fleetwood Mac – Dreams

Song starts with “Now here you go again, you say you want your freedom
Well, who am I to keep you down?”

“Born free, as free as the wind blows…”

But the wind doesn’t blow free, it blows in accord with the causes and effects that create and calibrate the wind.

Pretty much everything else is the same. In fact it’s a bit of a downer when I’m trying to find an analogy that will convince me I’m free to enjoy my evening.

“As free as a bird on the wing”, but a bird on the wing is very much constrained by inherited instincts that determine its behaviour and leave little room for error if it’s going to make it through the night.

“Free as the rolling sea”, but again, the sea’s movements are determined by calculable factors and involve nothing much that could be humanly defined as “freedom”.

Moral of the tale: human beings are probably the most free component of the known universe. But the extent and nature of our own freedom, to the extent that it exists, is very much a matter of debate.

Actually that should have been: But the nature of our own freedom, to the extent that it exists, is very much a matter of debate.

Too negative. Thanks for thinking of it.

Find the cost of freedom

Full Version by Steven Stills

Lyrics:
Daylight again, following me to bed
I think about a hundred years ago, how my fathers bled
I think I see a valley, covered with bones in blue
All the brave soldiers that cannot get older been askin’ after you
Hear the past a callin’, from Ar- -megeddon’s side

When everyone’s talkin’ and noone is listenin’, how can we decide?
(Do we) find the cost of freedom, buried in the ground

Mother earth will swallow you, lay your body down
Find the cost of freedom, buried in the ground
Mother earth will swallow you, lay your body down
(Find the cost of freedom buried in the ground)

Indeed. Palmer had to pay out $1.5 million, I read.
