I presume the proposition is that wakefulness is the delusional state.

To which I offer these words, with which I am sure you will agree, Yes?

I see the cold mist in the night
And watch the hills roll out of sight
I watch in every single way
Inside out, outside in
Every day

The sun can warm the coldest dawn
And move the movement on the lawn
I learn in every single day
Inside out, outside in
Every way

And there you are
Making it up that you’re sure that it is a star
When all you see
Is an illusion shining down in front of me
And then you say

Even in time we shall control day
When what you see
Deep inside the day’s controlling you and me
And one peculiar point I see
As one with many ones of me
As truth is gathered, I rearrange
Inside out, outside in
Inside out, outside in
Perpetual change

And there you are
Saying we have the moon, so now the stars
When all you see
Is near disaster gazing down on you and me
And there you’re standing
Saying we have the whole world in our hands
When all you see
Deep inside the world’s controlling you and me
Who’ll see perpetual change
You’ll see perpetual change

And there you are
Making it up that you’re sure that it is a star
When all you see
Is an illusion shining down in front of me
And then you say

Even in time we shall control day
When all you see
Deep inside the day’s controlling you and me
As mist and sun are both the same
We look on as pawns of their game
They move to testify the day
Inside out, outside in
Inside out, outside in
All of the way

The matrix reloaded. ;-)

While young, I pondered about this. How delusional is our waking state? Are we living in the “demon’s dream” or in “Plato’s cave”? Given that changing brain chemistry (eg. by LSD) changes our perception of the world, who is to say that the view of the world with natural brain chemistry is any less delusional than our view of the world with changed brain chemistry?

This brings us to Epistemology. How we know what we know.

I came to the conclusion that reality could never be absolutely determined, but was built in the mind by the bootstrapping of coincidence.

In differing senses lead to the same conclusion. Eg.seeing lightning and hearing thunder, or smelling and touching and tasting and moving. Then the brain tentatively accepts that the multiple evidence is “real” until proved otherwise.

So is no-one going to present an alternative perspective on this?

What would reality be like if we could sense everything that existed.
Its like no matter how much company ones has everyone is still alone trapped in their own mind

It’s obviously true in that delusions are distorted perceptions associated with the conscious mind.

Dreams are not expected to be accurate perceptions of what’s going on, so can’t be regarded as delusional.

Reminds me, I had a dream this morn that was Doctor Who based. Rory Williams worked out a way to regenerate without changing form, regarding it as a form of immortality. He went back in time a bit and had a collection of random volunteers in his lab who all strapped themselves in to be killed by their own CO2 in these masks. They died and for a long time it looked as though it hadn’t worked and he’d just killed a bunch of people but then they started to regenerate.

just got a flash~back of a chemically induced experience from over 50 years ago =8-o

I remember lying on the sofa
when suddenly every move down to the twitch of a finger
spun out toooooooooooooooooooo infinity
wherein every movement set changes cascading out like The Butterfly Effect
where I was able to view the panoply of cause and effects like an old time flicker movie….

doan remember how long I lay there almost paralyzed
scared to death of setting god-knows-what into motion……………………
