Subject: Lead Free Fishing

OK. So I might do a bit of fishing over the next couple of weeks, got a few days off. Going to be sorting my fishing gear this weekend.

I have got lots of lead sinkers. I think I need to forget them and try for a new lead free alternative. I’m thinking using old nuts and bolts instead. I have built up a decent odd fixings box over the years, so I can spare a few. This is because if I lose a few the steel will just rust away and not poison the environment. Iron is a minor nutrient necessary for aquatic plant growth so I’m helping the environment instead of harming it.

Anyone have any experience of going lead free in fishing? Any tips or suggestions?

Yeah. I’ve tied a nut on the end of the line in my day.
