Not even a single covid death in China (mainland) in the past week. And covid cases in China, never very large, are declining there.
As for non-government whistle-blowing in China. The only source to trust with such whistle blowing is in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Free Press (AFP). It is exceedingly critical of all things Chinese government and not always reliable. They do have an article about this, however.

What seems to be clear is that there is a significant increase is deaths in China. “From the country’s northeast to its southwest, crematorium workers told AFP they are struggling to keep up with a surge in deaths … It’s three or four times busier than in previous years”.
“We are not sure if it’s related to Covid” says the Hong Kong Free Press.

I can’t read Chinese but on Twitter @zhang_yueting is saying that on the Shanghai University website excess deaths are 367%. It is probably wrong and I will update it when I find mosre accurate information. It is concerning though!

Apparently it is this week. I stopped watching the videos, they were very disturbing. They are banned from posting them. China has over a million prisoners of conscience. You have to admire the courage to post those videos.

Chinese people are all jumping on planes to get mRNA vaccinations overseas. No bivalent available in China. Same problem in Australia unless you meet a certain select criteria. Being a politician, someone rich or immunocompromised? Not all high risk folks with disabilities can get vaccinated. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
