That is HUGE! We wouldn’t see that many snails in a lifetime up here! Maybe the toads ate them? I know the Pitas eat the mountain snail.

OMG! Please don’t let ‘em get away. As yet we don’t have snails but we now have slugs. Been here 15 years and this is the first year I’ve seen slugs. Not in small numbers either. They love strawberries don’t they?

Mrs. B and the elf collected and half filled a 2 ltr ice cream dish earlier this month.

sacrebleu ! – monsieur Pinmiser – une recipe toute suite !

my daughter reckons she chucked 200 of those over the fence into the vacant block
- i could easily provide that many slugs
- but the snails have been killed off by the drought here. even the little white snails that used to coat the fence posts have disappeared.

butter and garlic and saute. C’est Magnifique!

I’m amazed that even the little white ones have gone, they seemed like pretty tough little buggers. Portugese I believe. Like your millipedes.

i’m 86.23% sure they have gone. i use snail bait around young seedlings and normally catch everything on the first night. i’ve seen squidillions of slugs but no snails.

We only get the Asian Tramp Snail here and they never seem to do any damage so I leave them for the lizards. My sister has found her first Red-Triangle Slug. :)

That’s the second container I’ve collected, last one was two (?) weeks ago.

I bet if I did a 10pm garden tour i’d find just as many tonight. I collected that lot this morning when it was cloudy, 8am-ish, so the ones I’ve collected to date may only be the tip of the iceberg, so to speak.

Oh my back!

35 minutes later and I more than half-filled a huge soup pot (about the size of a bucket … 8-10 litres?) with snails.

I managed to breathe/swallow a flying insect while I was bent over, now I’m hoicking and coughing, can’t move the bluddy thing, ergh.

what with you and potter sniffing bugs, the invertebrate kingdom is in trouble.
