Got the January Scientific American today. This seems to be a good summary of something mentioned in a briefer way in SciAm.

https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2022/08/you-likely-dont-need-vitamin-d-pills-for-strong-bones/

And the abstract of the actual paper.

It pretty much says don’t supplement if you don’t have a problem. Much the same as for any supplements really.

That sort of makes the study useless, then?

Fair enough, but is there any harm in taking a daily capsule just in case?

I normally forget anyway.

I think that has been the rule of thumb for A , D, E and K for a while now for the reason this group of vitamins are all fat soluble and therefore accumulate in the body to harmful levels far easier than water soluable vitamins like Vitamin C , for example , however people can take too many of the water soluable vitamins if not careful as well.

They were looking to find out if there was any benefit in extra supplementation for people who are healthy.

I take Vit D3 to counter another important med
that makes me photosensitive
so that I have to limit my exposure to the sun.

as they say, “If Life Throws You Lemons…”

I switched from standard gardening
to specializing in shade gardening…
“Maid In the Shade”
it’s an opened field since people know
so little about it.
