For those interested in suicide and the many nuanced complexities this is an excellent book about intergenerational trauma of which suicide is often part of.

Last time I read the research our biggest burden of suicide was in remote and rural areas. So all folks scattered across Australia might find this interesting or not as the case may be.

If you get a chance to do any training with Dr Judith Atkinson I highly recommend her. It was profound for me. Of course different teachers for different folks, but I always like to know what is out there.

Beaming the brain with red light might help

Studies with red light being used to beam the brain through the skull seems to suggest it works.

Another thought that has been percolating through my brain

Lead levels in the body

Maybe the explosion in dementia, alzheimers, depression, cancer etc has a root cause : lead poisoning

Chocolate has significant lead and cadmium in it, other foods naturally absorb lead and heavy metals during growth.

Burning coal and other industrial process releases lead into the environment. Maybe we’ve created mass lead poisoning ? Some people absorb lead and heavy metals more than others I’d bet.

Stopping through mount isa yesterday I got talking

In this warehouse/ outlet they have a “no brush “ policy , brushing stirs up the lead that’s falling from the chimney nearby.

Wookiemeister could you please start another thread about this? Your tangents are feeling very disrepectful and upsetting to me. In Indigenous, Queer and Communities of Disabilities there is a much higher burden of suicide.

Housing is a mental health issue.

Having enough food to each is a mental health issue.

Not living as the most incarcerated group in the world is a mental health issue. So the ideas you are discussing may have some relevance to a basic discussion in another thread.

The NSW premier has been forgiven for his youthful indigression for wearing a Nazi uniform, at age 21, but there are 10 year old – 18 year old Indigenous children incarcerated across Australia. Where is the latitude for someone not as white as Perrottet?

Dr Judy Atkinson has literally written the book on intergenerational trauma in Australia. Her unique perspectives about Indigenous Australians has changed treatment protocols and stopped a lot of mental health professionals from participating in culturally unsafe mental health practices. Her training and workshops are cutting edge and she is honoured around the world.

This is really an important part of the piece of suicide prevention in Australia. Children as young as 10 years old have committed suicide in Indigenous communities.

This is an important issue which a few people have expressed some interest in. I have some small modest resources to share as I have done a lot of training and courses since 2019. If it could assist someone assisting someone else that would be a small boon to contributing.

Please don’t muddy the waters with comments that are not relevant to the current discussion. (Yes that is going to come back to haunt me!)

no disrespect intended, just made me wonder if suicide has some root cause we don’t realise.

Thank you Wookiemeister.

I think that is an important thought if suicide has some root cause that we don’t realise. That is really worth a thread of it’s own.

I don’t know if this is the dominant cause or not.

I had heard that, too.
In remote and rural areas there is a much higher percentage of gun ownership. And poison bait ownership.
