Subject: Battery packs for Laser Weapons

I read this article about using laser weapons as anti air borne weapon/aircraft defence
It mentions having to carrying around generation capacity
Could rechargeable or not battery packs store enough energy for one off fast discharge shots
It somewhat negates the almost limitless ammunition but you could if it’s feasible have many hundreds ready to go resupplying as required

50kW Laser

I’d use a chemical battery. Rather than the slow release of power from a conventional battery, a chemical battery is a one-off device that generates a lot of electrical power over a short time period by means of a chemical reaction. From vague memory, the electrical power from a chemical battery lasts from 5 to 20 seconds. Chemical batteries tend to be used by the military rather than by civilians, because civilians tend to require electrical power over a longer period of time.

They are also often used in rockets, to power the various systems for the few minutes the engines run for.
