It all comes down to scalability.

It comes down to availability of water.
For example, micro-algae is an excellent source of oil, but because it requires so much water, the evaporation losses are huge which makes it uneconomical.
Similarly but viewing this from another side. There is a desert plant in India that is an excellent source of oil. But – it has been found that it is only an excellent source of oil when growing in water-rich environments, not when growing in the desert. Which rules it out. (I can’t remember it’s name, but it’s similar to jojoba).

That did occur to me too.
I was wondering if they’d come up with a genetically modified water hyacinth next.

They will need some special hyacinth bucket to deal with it all.

I’m a good mood this evening. Apart from the small frustration with the broken mozzie coils.
