Good morning. Nice to see a few of you have been and gone. This bluddy daylight saving fiasco always sees me bringing up the rear.

No rain today but it’s still overcast. Perfect for transferring mondo grass to their new home. Other than that I don’t know what’s on the agenda. Might have to start planning the Christmas menu.

We have rented a beach house for the Christmas week. Both kids and their families will join us (I’m so looking forward to it) and along with a few extra friends, Christmas lunch will be held there. Anyway I intend to do all pre baking here and take it on hols. Every time someone opens their mouth I will be able to put food in it. Lots of BBQ’s for the ease of preparation and Christmas Dinner will be a cold one this year.

What’s everyone else got planned?

Morning Pom. I’m lurking here in the shadows still. Haven’t exactly decided yet what we are doing. Not sure whether to go to #1 daughter’s in Sydney or #1 son’s in Canberra. Daughter doesn’t want to travel with the baby, ( he was 4 weeks old yesterday ), and son has to work Boxing Day so he isn’t fussed with having to rush up here or to Sydney just for a few hours. So we might go to Canberra so he doesn’t have to spend it on his own.

I’ll have no kids with me on Christmas morning for the first time in 21 years. Not looking forward to that.

Pick up Littlefella from his father’s place around lunchtime, take him to my mum and dad’s near Tamworth (couple hours’ driving, get there mid-afternoon). Hopefully Older Son will be there waiting for us.

Up on Boxing Day and head south towards my sister’s place in Canberra. Not sure if we’ll go straight there or via Kiama (cousin) and others. Then further south to Victoria around New Year, back by 10th January.

Not looking forward to Christmas itself, but very much looking forward to the road trip :)

If you came via Kiama when would you expect to be there? We are only an hour away from there and on the way to Canberra if you go via Princes Hwy rather than going over the highlands to the Hume

26th or 27th Dec? Haven’t spoken to the Kiama cousin yet, they might not even be home!!

BTW we need to test run the new tent (which I’ve had for several months) and the whole camping gear thing in the little Astra. When I had the big 4WD space wasn’t a factor, but now I’m worried about it all fitting in.

If you called in to our place on the way (a.k.a. Tempe Tip) then you’d be able to get a good dose of vegie porn :)
I’m sure I could leave a weed or 2 for you to pull out as well grin

And the tent is huge. That’s why we need a test run. Was hoping this weekend the weather would be okay, but not looking good.

Unless, of course, he has medical issues that had everyone worried. That’s a different matter.

This time last year (would be close to 1yr since its happened this Month) Mum and dad where down at Tassie.
He got put in to ICU as we thought we were going to lose him (lucky grandma found him when she did). they thought he Wouldn’t get past May, Hes on a Oxygen tank all night, and a bit during the day.

Can’t Spell what He’s Suffering from, All his Muscles are being eatin from the inside out. So we just think every visit my Just be that Last chance we get to see him, So every week I go and sit with him After work.
Going to be Hard when he does pass away.

When I was 13 one of my uncles died a week before Christmas, he’d had diabetes from when he was a kid and was in a bad way (in a nursing home) for a few years before he died. So none of us were surprised.

But Mum and Dad had just opened a new business and were trying to cope with building it up and the Christmas rush, so Mum’s brother dying wasn’t good for the whole family in a number of ways.

Hard when these things all lump together – happy occasions linked with sad occasions.

Christmas plans for us are the same as last year, at Mrs. Daughters place. It’s starting to become a bit of a tradition. And again I don’t have to really do anything as she and her sisters and her mother in law are going to do most of the cooking. They really love doing this and don’t want me to have to ‘worry’ about anything because I cook lot’s of meals for them all year.

But I do get to bake the cake and this year I’m hiring a xmas tree shaped cake tin and baking a walnut and pineapple boiled fruit cake. And whatever else I happen bake that I can sneak in :)

And seeing as the family is expanding, in laws and prospective in laws and such (no extra babies yet) we all stick to a set amount to spend on pressies, which is quite low. We are trying to teach the youngins that they don’t have to be pressured into spending ridiculous amounts on presents, the day is about family, not how many pressies or how much money you have, or not.

We really enjoyed our Christmas picnic last year. Just MrBL and I and the boys. I thought it would be a bit lonely but it was very peaceful and relaxing and we all actually talked.

Might do mit again, Chrissy here gets difficult with too many people to please. It was so much easier when MrBL’s parents were alive because we all went home to Monto.

So do I Anne. As the kids keep having kids, the expence is growing each year. It’s almost time to limit presents to school children and younger. We tried having a secret Santa last year and it was a disaster. One of the invited guests didn’t arrive so someone missed out on a pressie. It was one of the worst possible persons that it could happen to as well.

I buy for my son only and if I have a Friend at the time, other than that I buy my Boss, his Mum pressies to say thanks for my job and his 2 kids a choccie bag of goodies every Xmas and Easter as well, my way of showing respect and gratitude for my great working conditions ect…. Been doing that for years now, I dont think Xmas should be commercialized, and for those religious ‘ putting’ Christ’ back into Christmas :D

I got sheep poo from my folks last Christmas – man, that was useful. Must add it to my list this year. My mum likes me to give her a list, to make life easier. Top of the list is always “help in the garden”, but I don’t often get that one :D
