Go raibh maith agat! (Thank you singular)

I don’t know who did it but someone on the Holiday Forum put in the URLS for three documentaries on spies and I really enjoyed them. It was fascinating, and they talked about two personalities or two people being in a couple of the spies, which I found quite intriguing! I have head this talked about before.

There was a workshop run by an American psychiatrist, and he went through the experimentation of the CIA and some disturbing things but also he discussed that the people who were dissociative, derealised or depersonalised – in DID territory were the ones that they wanted to recruit to be double agents. As they could compartmentalise. I really want to read that book. I was thinking about it the other day. Does it ring any bells for anyone?

I found reading this absolutely fascinating “NeuroTribes The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity” by Steve Silberman traces the history of how children who were different were treated, and how the Nazis used them as their first group to exterminate, even when parents were being told their children were undergoing treatment. He tracks institutionalisation of neurodiverse people. He talks about the “crazy Indians” that had been committed to stop them making claims on their lands, along with the many with Autism that were committed.

Surviving Evil: CIA Mind Control Experiments in Vermont Perfect by Karen Wetmore

Beginning at age thirteen, Karen Wetmore was subjected to horrific treatment in Vermont State Hospital and related facilities. Through years of investigative journalism, and numerous Freedom of Information Act requests, she was able do document that she was a victim of secret CIA mind control experiments as an adolescent, and of sexual abuse by one of her psychiatrists. Karen’s psychiatrists included Robert Hyde, M.D., who was cleared at TOP SECRET as the contractor on CIA LSD experiments conducted under MKULTRA Subprojects 8, 10, 63, and 66. Karen calls for an investigation into the nearly 3000 deaths at Vermont State Hospital from 1952 to 1973, when CIA money was pouring into the hospital. These deaths may have provided cover for terminal experiments conducted at the hospital.

So it was written by a psychiatrist who had got files under the Freedom of Information Act. He looked into what the CIA and other groups had done.

When I was watching the spy documentaries I was curious to know how much is that a thing to recruit dissociated spys to be double agents.

If anyone knows of the book I would really appreciate getting it’s title again.

i’d say there were two main types

those that actually work directly for a government agency/ business

those who are recruited to collect information (Money, Ideology, Coercion, Ego)

The CIA Doctors: Human Rights Violations by American Psychiatrists by Colin Ross MD

In “The C.I.A. Doctors: Human Rights Violations By American Psychiatrists,” Dr. Ross provides proof, based on 15,000 pages of documents obtained from the C.I.A. through the Freedom of Information Act, that there have been pervasive, systematic violations of human rights by American psychiatrists over the last 65 years. As well, he proves that the Manchurian Candidate “super spy” is fact, not fiction. He describes the experiments conducted by psychiatrist to create amnesia, new identities, hypnotic access codes, and new memories in the minds of experimental subjects. The funding of the experiments by the C.I.A. , Army, Navy, Air Force is proven by the C.I.A. documents and the doctors own publications. The C.I.A. Doctors proves that there were extensive violations of human rights by psychiatrists in North America throughout the second half of the twentieth century, perpetrated not by a few renegade doctors, but by leading psychiatrists, psychologists, pharmacologists, neurosurgeons, and medical schools.
