The big day tomorrow, and I am nowhere near as prepared as I want to be. I will be still trying to organise stuff while the truck is being loaded. I hope the guys are patient with me. I have the chooks in temporary cages so that their pens can be loaded, but first I have to clean them out! I hope they don’t plan on putting these on the truck first as it ain’t gonna happen! Still have to do the ducks, they will be a bit more tricky as they are so much bigger and panic more too. had a hell of a day today spending a lot of time either on the phone or at the lawyers. Stuff ups all over the place and not sure when the money is going to be available. In the meanwhile I will be able to move in under contract and will have to pay rent until the all the issues are fixed up. thankfully married daughter and a friend came over to help today and at least the kitchen and bathrooms are clean if nothing else!
Anyhow, I don’t expect to have time to drop in for a few days (unless I get desperate for some sanity) so be good and I’ll see you at Swanpool!

I’m here. Yesterday had me feeling faint and sick. Married daughter (MD) and co. came and rescued me. I couldn’t stay vertical let alone drive and I could not get access to this house until this afternoon so I stayed with them last night. MD drove me and the cat and the chooks and ducks this morning to meet the removalists. Due to me not being able to get the keys until this afternoon all the furniture is in the garage. I have dragged a mattress in for me to sleep on tonight. I have power and hot water, although I think the gas bottles have been turned off so no gas for the range until I can get someone show me what to do. I have my old microwave though and there is a cafe/take away across the road so I won’t starve. Mind you today is the first day I have been able to eat for a couple of days due to the stress. The aircon is not working and it is hot, but I found my pedestal fan in the garage and have that going.
Alex (the old cat) is holding up remarkably well and the chooks seemed to cope OK but the ducks were severely stressed. Hoping now that they are in their pen they will be OK.
So far I have seen a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, a couple of Rainbow Lorrikeets, a Crested (Top Notch) Pigeon, a Willy Wagtail and a flock of Galahs. Chester Galah is going to go so berko when MD brings him up on the weekend :) Oh, and a whole lot of cows!

good morning. I spent yesterday pretty much unpacking boxes marked “kitchen”. Going from a very large kitchen to quite a small one is quite interesting! I have decided I don’t need a big linen cupboard so much as more kitchen cupboards so linen will be going in the bedroom cupboards which are quite big.
Yesterday I heard some kookaburras but didn’t have my glasses on so couldn’t actually see them in the trees, but I’m pretty sure I have identified them right :P
But best of all and had me so excited, was a Blue Wren and his mate flitting about the trees just metres away from me sitting on the verandah. These are my most favourite bird and I am so stoked that there are some here. This morning I also spotted what I think are Welcome Swallows, but more definate identification is required there.

Nice work in having Superb Blue Fairy-wrens, we do not get them up this way so I am a touch envious.
We prioritise our cupboards in much the same way, kitchen first, daylight second then comes linen and clothes.

when I was a kid we used to have some that lived in some bushes by the back door and I would enjoy watching hop around the grass there. It wasn’t until I left home that I realised how special it was to have some so close by.

When we moved here 8 years ago (last weekend was the anniversary) the first birds we saw were blue wrens. Where we lived (behind our shop) before that, the only birds we saw were indian mynas (shoot ‘em), galahs, ibis and occoasionally kooka. Here, only 2kms away we have an amazing variety of birdlife. Enjoy your birds BG

I’ll even throw a few green tree frogs in the offer!
they would really love the minus degrees in winter!
you could build a heated aquarium for them?
Which reminds me………….
do you still have your pet frog BG?

when I was a kid we used to have some that lived in some bushes by the back door and I would enjoy watching hop around the grass there. It wasn’t until I left home that I realised how special it was to have some so close by.
I’ll swap a breeding pair of your wrens for one of me snakes?
no thanks!! I’m keeping my wrens and you can keep your snakes! lol!
ditto

good morning.
Sounds as though you might have to wisper in Santa’s ear for a good bird book for chrissy. If you haven’t already got one packed away somewhere that is.

26mm of rain all up last night. MD & Co. came up yesterday with the next to last of my stuff. They helped with moving in the heavy furniture so I now have a couch to sit on, a table to sit at and a base for my bed as well as more cupboards and bookshelves. Most of what remains is lighter stuff which I can manage myself as needed. Chester Galah, the budgie and the rat came up yesterday, and yes, Chester was very excited to have other galahs and cockies to talk (read “screech at the top of his voice”) to.
