ok so not much changed except where we have included the three places where people who have said they are open to catching up into the loop, we are starting in Hobart and going counter clockwise about the place.

Still no idea what exact places we are going to see but if its within reach of those places we will go I guess … very open to suggestions. Personally ima try to hit up local/historical breweries and the like. Really going to see my sister and the rest is gunna be as laid back as we can make it

Day one is on July 1st and will go for about 12 days. We are starting in Hobart and going counter clockwise about the place.

Also to the three of you who showed interest in a catch up… I’m looking forward to it. BUT if ya change your mind coz you feel its a bit weird or something comes up or any reason you just don’t wanna later that’s fine, I would totally get it, no pressure.

As it gets closer we can communicate here or if that weirds you out my google mail address has trevtao before the at and we can do it there. Im good either way

Looks an interesting invasion of the island, Trev.

I’ll be happy to host a lunch or similar either here or at my nearby sister’s place, if the weather favours an outdoor do.

That’s a decent lap around the state :)

A couple of nice breweries up this way, Seven Sheds at Railton, Buttons Brewery in Ulverstone, Penguin Brewery and Communion in Burnie.

I have been known to frequent both Penguin and Communion on a few occasions.

Happy to meet up still :)

When on the West Coast look at doing the West Coast Wilderness Railway. I did a half day in July and it was stunning. It had snowed close by that day, the man ferns had snow caps in the middle. It was toasty warm on the train and we had mulled wine to start the day.

Looking at that map Trevor, that’s a very long detour just to see Bubblecar in his humble village.

What I would suggest is that you make a shorter detour to my Pontville sister’s place, which is excellently suited to entertaining, and which I visit regularly. She’ll be happy for me to host a lunch or similar for visiting friends, and it’s a lovely property. Only about 20 minutes out of Hobart.

Well there are lots of nice places everyone misses on a short visit.

But the Pontville place for a visit to Bubblecar will be much more worthy of a Tasmanian holiday than my own cruddy little place.

Only about 20 minutes out of Hobart.

but then he doesn’t get to see fingal.

Well there are lots of nice places everyone misses on a short visit.

But the Pontville place for a visit to Bubblecar will be much more worthy of a Tasmanian holiday than my own cruddy little place.

…it would be lovely if you could make it up there too, sarahs mum :)

I can get there easily, and we can drive you home. If Trev is visiting you he can take you to Pontville.

We’ll work something out, the distances are not daunting.

Better still, get her to damp dust first, and then give her some Marveer and a new duster. And when she has finished the wooden furniture (including any curlicue carved bits which require cotton bud application), she can clean the chrome on the taps. And if all that is done, I’m sure you could find her some tarnished silver and a bottle of Silvo (and another rag or two). That should keep her happy for a few hours. Tell her the sense of achievement will be worth the effort. In the meantime, you can get on with making a lovely mess in the printing area.

Yeah Woodie we decided that this time we would just go somewhere that didn’t involve our kids… and America. last 3 or 4 trips have been to the US and to be honest there isn’t a lot there besides my family that tempts me into sitting in a flying cylinder for a million hours any more

Sarah’s Dad played the doghouse on Mondays and tuesdays for years. It’s closed now. A backpacker’s. The Republic is probably the closest thing. Although the New sydney is a much better vibe.

OK most places are booked.

The cross over of school holidays between nsw and tas means that the lower/later parts have had to be slightly changed due to unavailability.

Right then. you guys good to catch up….. It does not have to be anything spectacular. It can be something as simple as lunch in a pub/cafe/whatever and an arvo chatting with a drink or two

Dates are a little flexible but we will be in Hobart on the 1st in the arvo ( difficult but not impossible as we just arrive then and have to find teh car hire place and our bed for the night) ….Campbell town on the 4th so can see Mr Car then for lunch and a drink if that is his want and then back again in Hobart on the 10th ( arvo) and 11th ( all day). We can drive to Snug from Hobart or all meet up in Hobart on the 11th and spend the time all together

Oh and whatever we do its our shout eh.

Looking forward to meeting the Trev expedition.

Right then. you guys good to catch up…..

Sounds fine Trev, looking forward to it.

Well that was a fun trip.

Spending the last night back in Hobart drinking beer at Hobart Brewing Co before flying out in the am.

Caught up sith Mr Car and Sarahs Mum. Was great to meet and catch up respectively.

Weather was mostly kind but fnck me the west side is a bit wet innit.

12 days really isn’t enough time to do more than race past places that definatly deserve at least a few days by themselves. Also slot of stuff wasn’t open due to it being winter so next time will definitely be a spring/summer visit.
