Anyone interested in doing a Holiday Forum AFL tipping comp for the upcoming season?

Via the AFL website. No money involved. Just bragging rights only.

I prefer to use the free website as it does all the scoring automatically. We can set up a closed group that is only open just to us. Also if you get a perfect weekly score you might get some minor prize like a voucher.

I’ll check back tomorrow.

Season starts 16 March.

I am in 3 groups including this one.
I place one set of tips each week which applies to all the groups I am in.
For each group my correct tip count toward that group.

Mr Joinder,

The AFL Footy Tips is a system run by the AFL website. You then set up your own group within that. eg. Holiday Forum. I am in 2 groups. You only need put your tips in once. You do that via a link on the AFL website, or Footy Tips app on your phone. The system keeps tally of your tips and shows you a “leaders board” for your particular group. It will also tell you where you rate in the whole of the comp as well. Only others in your group can see your results. ie 6 out of 9. Nobody else can see your actual tips. Not even after the round of footy is complete. There are other little mini-prizes etc that are AFL wide. eg. you are in the running if you tip 5 or more per round, and are eliminated if you don’t. Last one standing, ie tipped 5 or more per round gets a prize. It cost nuffin to join or put your tips in.

When you put your tips in, it will give you a percentage of what other have tipped. Eg Swannies 85% V Brisbane. 15%

Ah, I think I found it. I clicked on “most popular tips” earlier today just to see what the overall tipping percentages were. It changed my tips to most popular from what I had selected originally.

When I were a young tacker, I used to play footy for Wickepin.

One year, we won the first three games of the season by a lot.

The opposition didn’t score a point until the fourth game.

In the newspaper there was the points ladder, we had over 100 goals and over 100 points before the opposition teams scored one single point 4 weeks later.

I’m not claiming any credit for that, most of the time I was a bench warmer, but our percentage didn’t fit on the page.

However, in one game I did personally kick half the the score for our team in the game. We still lost though.

I think from now on it is going to be going with the most popular selection for each game, with maybe the odd 50/50 or 60/40 game being the one where a bit of luck get thrown into the mix.

Yes they will. There is no pressure on the coach. The Perth media are really playing up the bad luck and injuries line, keeping expectations low. A couple of weeks ago there were more murmurs in the local press about the Freo coach might lose his job soon. Two wins in a row should keep them quiet for a bit.

I took a long shot in the Gauntlet two weeks ago and lost, so I’m out of that.

Had a bad weekend last week, and dropped out of the Minimum Fives(got 4/8). There’s only 6 games this week, so a lot of the remainder will drop out.

So now it’s back to just footy tips. Yay, go team sports ball.

I do not have faith in football teams. At the end of the day they are a bunch of complete strangers who get paid to chase a ball around a field. I can’t make such an emotional connection as to make them an object of faith.

I gave up on them in the early 2000’s.

Still a Dockers supporter. But I got to the point where I was over-investing my time and energy into it. Had to step back and do other things and develop other interests.
