As for the realization they’re arriving at about stemming the pollution @ The RIVERS
Nice Try
as long as it doesn’t turn into yet another Political “FEEL GOOD” Photo Op that essentially Goes Nowhere

Hazard NJ: Why Superfund cleanup of Passaic River stalled

EPA approves cleanup plan for 9 more miles of Passaic River

Lower Hackensack River named NJ’s 115th Superfund site

>:-p TYPICAL!
While ANYTHING is better than Nothing they’re still merely posing for Another Photo Op

Does it Not Make More Sense to Start From the Top Down?

Think about it… while the Iron Bound is by far the WORST due to the Dioxin & Mercury
but also the actual location location location (Slap Dab in the most populated area where
such as The Arts Center/Down-Town Business District & Municipal Center/PENN STATION
not to mention UMDNJ-Rutgers.) You can still drive down McCarter Highway and see the
crumbling factories & storage facilities lining BOTH shores of the River… it’s a crying shame.

but If they clean it first, the CRAP (figuratively?) will just keep re-re-re polluting the area as
the dredged-up POISON Stirred Up by the dredging Up~Stream will just keep washing
down to re-pollute the lower portion again & again…?

CYNICAL JAKE.: OR IS THAT THE “PLAN”? Stretch out what should be a decade long
clean-up to a generational clean up simply as an On Going Money Making Scheme?

ANOTHER ISSUE
is that I’m finding it next to impossible to convince ANYONE to Give Up BOTTLED WATER.
As the water sources become increasingly polluted with both industrial chemical waste
and organic waste and run-off from industrial level farm practices people have stopped
drinking Municipal (Tap) Water altogether… even when I point out that if they read the
LABEL they’d learn that it’s the Exact Same Water Source … only FILTERED.

My personal solution is a 3 stage filter which sits on my kitchen counter that’s every bit
as tasty as the water in those heavy, expensive little bottles of water which are adding to
the landfill and leaching into the ground water, atmosphere, rivers and ultimately the ocean.

These aren’t bad people…
they just buy into the sales im-propaganda that All Those Bottles Are Being RECYCLED

You can buy larger 12L bottles/ similar

The coke owned neverfail re uses the same bottle – I don’t buy this stuff. You’ve got no idea what someone has used the bottle for before you use, I saw one strapped to the tray of a ute with something stuffed into the neck, people could store various chemicals / whatever in it , then you drink from the bottle.

Having run a small water treatment plant its always made me wonder if the aluminium sulphate is ending up in the tap water in some way. The guy that ran the plant before me was DRINKING this stuff and has literally gone mad.

At the other place my suspicions were confirmed about the supposed safety of this potable water, some workers turned up and I warned then not to drink the water, measuring the chlorine count of the water doesn’t have any bearing on the safety of the water.

I had another theory that particles of dirt that made it through the floc process were harbouring bacteria / virus, the chlorine wouldn’t be any use in the water unless all sediment was removed.

From everything I’ve seen a significant proportion of the industrial process in Australia is literally run by fucking idiots.

My theory is we’ve contaminated the food with lead and heavy metals. The green revolution has created more food but it’s contaminated.

I did post an update on this a couple of months ago.

In short, although totally hyped, the ocean cleanup is progressing, slowly.

River plastic clean-up in parts of south East Asia are doing really well.

The summary included a breakdown of what the plastic pollution is the pacific ocean garbage patch actually is. The largest single component is fishing tackle: buoys, floats and lines.

The plastic water bottle industry is booming.

Here’s why that’s a huge problem

personal note:
the 1st time I ever encountered a Plastic Bottle of WATER was in the early ’70’s.
We were strolling through a MAJOR City when I became parched and handed my
portable canteen to one of my companions asking him to “Plse Get me some Water”
He returned saying I’d have to BUY Water … “WHAT????”
That’s when he told me that, “They Sell it inside but @ $1 a Bottle !”

:-) O-8= “A Dollar a Bottle? You’ve GOT To be KIDDING!!!”

I never imagined that they were RE-FILLING Used Bottles
actually I was HOPING THey’re SHREDDING The Bottles and Melting Them to CREATE New Bottles

since then I’ve learned that Not All “Bottles” were Created Equal <— joke
but rather each plastic used for various purposes had different melting points
and that much of the plastic was too toxic 4 human consumption da da da da da da

not a joke —> still NOT Gonna give the Bastids $1 a bottle (or whatever the inflated price is)

Added to the impost of having to buy a plastic bottle to get a drink, the water in the bottle will be delivering micro-plastics to your innards.

I suppose that also applies to plastic soft drink bottles.
