Subject: Spectacular eclipse... if only it were real

A friend just sent me this video and commentary:
https://twitter.com/i/status/1518818029639020545
The moon as seen from the Arctic Circle,  between Russia and Canada, it only lasts a few seconds, but it’s worth seeing. It’s a spectacular sight – and in real time! Imagine that you are in a place between Canada and Russia and that, suddenly and for just 30 seconds, the moon appears in all its splendor and disappears before your eyes. Looks like the moon is going to collide with the earth. But even more impressive, and for just 5 seconds, a total eclipse of the sun takes place right after. It’s spectacular! The video was shot in real time. This phenomenon happens at the perigee point of a star’s orbit around the Earth, where the proximity of the 🌕 moon is so evident that, suddenly, one realises the great speed at which the Earth is moving.
—————————————————————————————————
She asks if it’s legit. I say no, because the relative sizes of the moon and sun are way out – they should look about the same size from anywhere in earth, correct? Plus, why would the moon ever look that huge to the naked eye. And that stars don’t orbit the earth, but maybe they meant to say the earth’s apogee.

But I am unsatisfied with my own explanations to her. What other reasons are there why this can’t be real?

“She asks if it’s legit. I say no”

And you’d be right. It’s hilariously fake.

I just realised it doesn’t even go the right way. The moon orbits from right to left as it would at the south pole.

the Moon is also rotating on its axis which it doesn’t do form the perspective of the Earth.

I think your explanation is fine. The apparent diameter of the moon never differs from that of the sun by more than about 10%.

Also, it takes the moon about 2 minutes to move its own diameter in the sky. This thing appears to be moving that far in a few seconds.

I mean I’m kind of surprised that anyone who has even visited this planet would for a second think that this might be a video of a real event.

Well yeah but, I’ve never been to the polar lattitudes. The sun and moon and stars probably do some weird shit there that I’d never expect. Not THIS obviously. But I can see how people not question it.

all right fine if you really want to know then we’re more surprised that after dv posted this https://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/politics/nsw-state-election-year-7-maths-question-stumps-everyone/news-story/f32f5464c653247edfc578c5d3aa17cb he still thought that “anyone” would be able to formulate the appropriate celestial models that could protect them from the disinformation in the motion picture

Can confirm. I was operating on a flight from somewhere in Canada to somewhere in Germany. Our flight path took us to 72° north, and during the flight the Sun went down a bit forwards of perpendicular to the cockpit, then a while later came up again behind perpendicular to the cockpit.
Weird.
