Subject: harvested

occurred to me recently that the entirety of human knowledge is being harvested, and so too all the tricks of evolutionary happened upon structures in nature, of the latter like mapping brains for example to extract the magic to be applied elsewhere, in AI computation self-learning machines and whatever, and for bio-engineering etc

probably arguably not much different to what humans have done going way back, generalized as progress

or is it otherwise, substantially different, revolutionary even

consider the amount of information being harvested by the machines on the internet, for starters

plug AI into that

Sure, we’ll consider it now.

Seeing as 0.99999438614 of the information out there is absolute trash, we suppose it’s only fitting that AI will be a bunch of gigolos for the foreseeable future.

Well yeah they’re going to know pretty much everything. Privacy is already becoming a thing of the recent past. It’ll be back to when we lived in tiny tribes and everyone knew everyone’s business, and politely pretended they didn’t so the tribe could function – or were more accepting of people.

As for AI itself, we’re going to have to keep it crippled, keep some pretty intense security over it, or create only trustworthy AI.

More likely we’ll fuck it up and end up with some seriously shite situations.

The smartphone is one thing I might be changing to be less likely to pass on information. I may well have a look at GrapheneOS.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity
“The technological singularity—or simply the singularity—is a hypothetical future point in time at which technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unforeseeable changes to human civilization. According to the most popular version of the singularity hypothesis, I.J. Good’s intelligence explosion model, an upgradable intelligent agent will eventually enter a “runaway reaction” of self-improvement cycles, each new and more intelligent generation appearing more and more rapidly, causing an “explosion” in intelligence and resulting in a powerful superintelligence that qualitatively far surpasses all human intelligence..”

This happens in the movie “Her” but the AI improves so quickly that humans become literally irrelevant to it. It doesn’t help or destroy humans, it simply leaves.

I was/am the physically weakest of my little tribe..
..so I began acquiring necessary survival skills
reasoning that even if I couldn’t keep up it would be
to the advantage of my tribe to carry me with them.

Fast forward to post Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos &
Elon Musk era when they choose to “Bug-Out” & leave
the rest of us behind & start a New Society without us,

Myth. total and utter myth.

Fuelled by paranoia.

Even “future shock” turned out to be a myth. Cultural shock remains, but future shock never happened.

And technological singularity is just an overblown and outsize amplification of future shock.
