pretty harmonies. i do remember when i lived in a suburb and a local islander family were grieving the loss of a family member and they were singing together at a home coming together a wake (I guess) the singing in the quiet of the day was quite heart warming a peaceful and certainly a beautiful harmony drifting in the air. I thought … what a beautiful way to farewell a loved one.

We did the march in our brigade uniforms this morning, it rained all day and still is.
I cleaned up my fire boots yesterday but I had cooked my boots over summer which denatured the glue. Before I even started the march, both soles fell off and the rain water soaked up into my socks while waiting to start. Once we reached the memorial on the foreshore, we had to stand in the rain for an hour. At least it wasn’t raining bullets and shells.

After the event I was saturated and so cold that I didn’t even go to the pub.

They talked about the last veteran of Tobruk has died. My dad was at Tobruk for more than 10 months before going to El Alemain and Syria where he was wounded and sent back to Australia. Afterwards he was sent to the Kokoda track.
