When you go see a counsellor the first thing they ask you is do you think of or have you attempted suicide recently.

I’ve said no even it that’s not the case, have wondered what they’d do if you said yes think it all the time

I think that is a very common think to do Cymek.

A lot of people say no when it’s not the case because they don’t know what the consequences of saying yes would be. I would imagine what happened when a person said yes would depend on a variety of factors.

Yes plus its not something you would tell a complete stranger even if they are a counsellor and perhaps one of the reasons you are seeing them.

Yes there has to be trust and you have to feel a good rapport with a person. Knowing them for a time might have some bearing on this.

Take you more seriously. They’re not going to put you in a straight jacket and lock you up for the relatively common suicidal ideation.

suicide watch is pretty much a lock up situation in hospitals though in order to do their best to keep the person separated from physical possibilities of self harming.

My experience is different to this exact question, I was beyond being able to articulate anything however if they think you are being truthful you might get admitted to hospital for a time. Not like in a padded room all day ( although that was the case for me for a day or so. I was fairly heavily drugged at the beginning so my memory is a little hazy) but at least in an environment where you can be watched and kept safe

Always try to tell the truth though its the best way to get help, these days i dont shut the fuck up on how i feel if things get shitty
