Trump is a looney.

I would say that his many un changing traits leads to painting a gruesome picture of his personality.

All of his negative traits form a package of a Narcissistic sociopath who has other issues…

So following the news over 4 years of his presidency, everything in the following list was described by media in news articles.

A person who likes power and control
Alleged rapist of around 24 women
Arrogant
Banned Muslims from entering the USA
Bully
Changes history
Changes opinion
Cheats at golf
Climate change denier
Contradictory
Control Freak
Criminal
Cruel
Demagogue
Dismissive of people
Egotistical
Full of hatred
Full of revenge
Greedy
Gropes and grabs women
Has horrendous ethics
Has terrible logic, goes against sound advice
Hostile to the homeless, poor and needy
Hypocrite
Ignorant
Incited violence against a sitting Congress with a group of right wing extremists willing to fall of his cliff
Incites hatred
Incompetent
Inept
Insults people using the media
Is ignorant on a lot of matters and history
Like glamour and attention
Likes attacking the Free Press
Likes self promotion using other people
Makes unwanted sexual advances
Megalomaniac
Misogynist
Mocks people.
Narcissistic
Obnoxious
Plagiarist
Pompous
Protects the entrenched oligarchy
Racist
Reckless
Rude to people.
Says anything that comes to mind
Serial Liar
Sexist
Shady business tactics.
Sociopath
Spreads fake news
Stubborn
Stupid
Tax avoider
Throws tantrums
Treats people like crap
Turns a blind eye to things and goes into denial when playing dirty, all of Trumps dirty political tactics are his dirty

That video appears to be an ad for some sort of therapy.

No amount of therapy can fix Trump.

Imagine counselling someone who has all of those issues.

It would take years and years.

I don’t like profiling people, but if I was fly on the wall with Trump that list would be much larger.

couple things struck me way back, and recur

a) first was that he’s more a business man, overseeing a country might require some personality attributes as if not everything of what makes a country function optimally is aligned with hard-nosed business acumen, shall I put it, perhaps generously

and related

b) there’s a dimension of personality that seems not to be overly sensitive of regard to what most people retreat in their own space, the home in the head

by contrast, Obama clearly had a home in his head, it wasn’t combative, it was not built on variously siege, and didn’t project siege, didn’t incline it to be a normal state of the external world

Do all presidents see certain actions as protecting US security even when those actions result in large scale death and destruction and if the “enemy” did it they are evil.
They must all have some extremely weird idea of patriotism which justifies all they do.

Remember, the President is, officially and actually, the Commander-in-Chief of the US armed forces and other agencies.

There are rules and laws which require him to give his assent to some kinds of operation and actions, without which those operations and actions are not legitimate under US law.

So, like any responsible commander, leader, or executive, he has to have provided to him evidence of what actions might be undertaken, what the benefits of those actions are, and what the potential costs and risks of those actions are.

There’s the attempted rescue of American hostages from Teheran, decades back. Jimmy Carter gave his assent based on what he’d been presented with as to risks/costs versus benefits. The fact is that it went wrong because of rushed preparation and too much ‘blue-sky’ thinking by the operational people, who didn’t provide sufficient ‘branch-points’ in the plan to cope with problems that might have reasonably been expected e.g. civilians being on-site at the refuelling point. This was a dud, where costs ended up exceeding benefits.

There was the killing of bin Laden. Obama gave assent because the benefits were perceived as outweighing the risks. It went a lot better than Teheran, but it could have been a lot better still. People other than bin Laden died, and it did nothing for relations with Pakistan (but Pakistan had been playing a double game, so screw ‘em). Personally, i think they should have taken the bugger alive and put him on trial.

And yes, similar actions by ‘the enemy’ would be perceived as evil. The Nazis did have plans to assassinate Churchill. Had they succeeded, i doubt that anyone on the Allied side, military or civilian, would have thought that the Nazis were ‘no different from us’ and well, hey, that’s how it goes, huh?

Mr Trump’s fingers “went into my vagina, which was extremely painful, extremely painful,” and he also “inserted his penis,” she said.

“As I’m sitting here today I can still feel it,” she said. “It left me unable to ever have a romantic life again.”

Absolutely we did know this then, she edited a book about by a range of mental health professionals back then, the thing is the interesting language and concepts that she is using in how to name and respond to these problems that have metastasized throughout American culture.

Sometimes psychoeducation is one of the most profound touchstones in healing. Gosh I wish those poor people would heal because the death of democracy in the US would not bode well for us in Australia.

I wasn’t really aware of him until I started working at the bookstore in 2007. For years I had to walk past multiple shelves in one section that always had a display of that book, The Art of the Deal. The shelves were on the way to the loos. I had heard about the Apprentice show, never watched it though.
Then 2015 happened. He presented as a toxic creep. A gaudy facade of a person. Vain and ugly. He just kept getting worse as he took joy in not hiding his true self.

The day after the election I was dizzy with fear, incoherently babbling to an English couple I knew through work. I saw my therapist the next day and she said many therapists were reporting increased anxiety and panic in their clients already. So…at least I wasn’t alone.

And so it goes.

dunno about whoever mentioned in the OP, not sure I know who the person is, perhaps vaguely remember the name, but might suggest examples of the species with strong narcissistic tendencies maybe tend to have a locus of reality – ego – that tends to go way outside busily to patch what for most people would ordinarily involve some mundane mental housekeeping, an internal business, certainly not so consequential to effect millions, hundreds of millions of others

but whatever, it’s how nature rolls dice, gestation and all that, the neural unfolding, gifts humanity with variety

Thing is, it’s not Trump – it’s the people voting for him.

If I may cut and paste something….

——————————————————————————————-
An anguished question from a Trump supporter: ‘Why do liberals think Trump supporters are stupid?’

THE SERIOUS ANSWER: Here’s what the majority of anti-Trump voters honestly feel about Trump supporters en masse:

That when you saw a man who had owned a fraudulent University, intent on scamming poor people, you thought “Fine.”

That when you saw a man who had made it his business practice to stiff his creditors, you said, “Okay.” (https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-hotel-paid-millions-in-fines-for-unpaid-work)

That when you heard him proudly brag about his own history of sexual abuse, you said, “No problem.” (https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/list-trumps-accusers-allegations-sexual-misconduct/story?id=51956410)

That when he made up stories about seeing Muslim-Americans in the thousands cheering the destruction of the World Trade Center, you said, “Not an issue.” (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2015/11/22/donald-trumps-outrageous-claim-that-thousands-of-new-jersey-muslims-celebrated-the-911-attacks/)

That when you saw him brag that he could shoot a man on Fifth Avenue and you wouldn’t care, you exclaimed, “He sure knows me.” (https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/10/23/president-donald-trump-could-shoot-someone-without-prosecution/4073405002/)

That when you heard him relating a story of an elderly guest of his country club, an 80-year old man, who fell off a stage and hit his head, to Trump replied: “‘Oh my God, that’s disgusting,’ and I turned away. I couldn’t — you know, he was right in front of me, and I turned away. I didn’t want to touch him. He was bleeding all over the place. And I felt terrible, because it was a beautiful white marble floor, and now it had changed color.
