I ran across, almost by accident, this puzzle by Kay Kurono. The title is “Angel of ants”.

This ought to be recognised as one of the all-time great puzzles, up there with Rubik’s Cube and the infamous “Al Escargot” Sudoku.

Here it is:

Before even thinking of starting “Angel of Ants”, warm up with this little toughie with title “Car” by MagicDeath. Once you’ve solved “Car”, you’ll have all the mental tools necessary to solve “Angel of ants”. But be warned, “Angel of ants” is an order of magnitude more difficult.

Both puzzles come from the app “Nonograms Katana”, available as an android app or directly through browser on https://nonograms-katana.com/play/

Here is “Car” by MagicDeath.

Car was easy, I just printed it out and filled in all the blank squares with a cross, done.

Can’t really have a start and end without something in the middle.

Unless your name is Schubert, first name Franz, who wrote a start and a middle but no end to his 8th Symphony.

Anyone had a go at “Car” by that music group MegaDeath yet?

Wasted too much time here, then had no time for games.

Images made up of 0s and 1s.

The numbers give the size of contiguous spans of 1s in that row or column, but do not specify position.
