Parpyone,
Firstly, Parpyone, does your monitor work via the traditional plugs (VGA etc)?
Nextly, the HDMI port is used to connect devices that are HDMI compatible. Such as your TV. The HDMI port is used as an “extention” to your pooter. It’s primary purpose is not an alternative to plugging in your primary monitor, without going into “settings” and saying it is a “duplicate” monitor.
You will need to go into “settings” and “display”.
Look at the settings. Plug ANOTHER monitor into the HDMI port.
You will see options for “duplicate”, or “extend” your primary monitor.
Duplicate will do what it says. You will have two displays of exactly the same screen. eg. if you wish to plug in a projector, or big TV, and you want to use your TV as a monitor, and you are giving a presentation. You watch your pooter monitor, and your audience watches the projector/TV.
“Extend” mode, will do just that as well. . “extend” your primary monitor, as if you had TWO monitors, side by side, and will make your monitor TWICE the area. eg. On one monitor, you may have full screen Holiday Forum, and on the other “extended”{ monitor, you may have a full screen Youtube movie going. To move a window to/from the “extended” monitor, just click and drag it across to the “extended” monitor.
You may need to look at your sound settings too. If you plug something in to the HDMI port, the sound will also go via the HDMI port and not your speakers.(eg if you have plugged in your TV to the HDMI por, the pictuire and sound will go to your TV) Click your little speaker/sound icon in the tray, and set your sound output accordingly.
