Today I learnt about about Blaschko’s lines. They’re the lines that are generated by embryonic cell development.

We all have them, but they’re invisible except in people with a type of chimerism.

I just discovered that aphids clone themselves and give birth often to live young rather than laying eggs like the majority of other insects and often give birth to aphids who are already pregnant with the next generation of more clones. Their capacity to replicate relies on their dna replicating successfully infinitum otherwise they would’ve died out by now. They might replicated with sexual reproduction as well I guess to create some type of genetic diversity.

And then …after eating out the greenhouse they breed a special family of winged clones so they can move onto the garden bed …and can have a symbiotic relationship with ants by feeding them syrup and then trades the favour for protection.

They do have one arch nemesis aside from lady beetles that like to eat them like snacks as their is a wasp that uses their abdomen to grow their next generation and ultimately killing the aphid by sucking the life out of them.
