Subject: Low Self Esteem Resources

Low self esteem has long been the bane of my life, as my internal dialogues here attest. Not surprising as I genuinely am a dodgy and disappointing piece of shit who can claim but few (overrated) talents.

Nonetheless there are ways to try to cope with this condition, for those who don’t actually deserve it. Here are some resources from Western Australia, of all places.

Feel free to post other resources in this thread.

doesn’t the term low self esteem sort of steer you into the idea you should aim for high self esteem, and exclude by some relative or comparative hoodoo away from modest self esteem, when surely modest self esteem ought be good enough

Realistic self esteem is a commendable goal.

But realistically, as far as my own expectations go, I’m a worthy punch-bag.

It’s a matter of trying to be kinder to oneself so that each day isn’t an exercise in kicking one’s own arse.

yeah dunno, I kick myself twenty times a minute, seems to be part of thinking, the error correction, otherwise it becomes some sort of delusion machine

You remain fairly positive at the end of it.

People with chronic low self esteem find it a constant reminder of why life is really an uncalled for burden.

Do you live in your own head ?
Everyone does I suppose but some people almost exclusively do so instead of interaction with others and do too much thinking

Don’t take the first post too literally, I was exaggerating for comic effect :)

But yes, I’ve lived alone most of my life and do tire of my constant criticism at times.

Getting outside of myself by reading etc is good therapy.

Maybe you just have really high standards. If you lived with someone else, you’d be always having to suppress the urge to criticise them, and that would be even more tiresome.
