.. and tell me, is it still raining there in England?
Mr Arts had the cunning plan to catch some sleep during the day so he could stay awake for the test.. but the nurses kept coming in and waking him… so I guess he’ll be right to fall asleep anyway

So what is old about this Trafford bloke? Did he used to play for England or sumfin’?

Old Trafford was a crossing point over the River Irwell in ancient times. The name Old Trafford possibly derives from the time when there were two Trafford Halls, Old Trafford Hall and New Trafford Hall. The old hall was close to what is now the White City Retail Park, and was said to have been the home of the de Trafford family since 1017, until the family moved to the new hall in what is now Trafford Park, some time between 1672 and 1720. The name of the area around Old Trafford Hall may subsequently have become shortened to Old Trafford. The old hall was demolished in 1939.

The ABC News fellow said that Australia only needs a draw in order to win the Ashes. Which is not quite true, though that would be enough to retain them.

What happened to the weather forecast of two or three days being washed out with rain?

It’s a pity that our approach to this match seems to have been built around playing for a draw and the fact that half the match would be washed out. Today has been fine enough, but..
Saturday:
Wet and gloomy for much of Saturday with outbreaks of rain throughout, heavy at times. A fresh breeze developing. Feeling cool under persistent rain, though humidity building into the evening. Maximum temperature 18 °C.
Outlook for Sunday:
Staying wet with further heavy rain at times.
It could be a very tight run finish.

I agree with what p_p previously said about David Warner.. time’s up

PeterT Ministries has a special on over the weekend, it’s the Help Australia Initiative.
PeterT Ministries will say a prayer for rain in Manchester for only $10, that’s right just $10 or a full Rosary for just $100.
There are only a limited number of prayers available so call now to avoid disappointment.

Beautiful barmy day in Manchester.

Five 214 after a day of only 30 overs, will resume on day five still 61 runs in arrears. The forecast is once again dismal but then it was today, with England now chasing five quick wickets to level this series and prevent Pat Cummins and his players retaining the Ashes with a match to spare.
A yellow rain warning has been issued for Sunday across most of northern England and Wales, with travel disruption possible and major outdoor events affected, including the fourth Ashes Test in Manchester.
In Oz speak equals pissing down.

They have only themselves to blame this time. They knew the weather forecast, but chose to bat on and on for a lead over 250. Most pundits were saying declare at 150 in front given the forecast.
