Take guided a guided busway

Take guided a guided busway

Take a hybrid trolley bus with both electric overhead wires and a battery for short range – that can recharge on the fly

take an electric overhead truck

Combine into one hybrid system of trunk route for trucks and heavy vehicles. Trucks run between depots while charging their batteries on the way. Once at a depot or designated entry/exit point they can leave to do the last leg delivery or pick-up on battery power.
Takes trucks off ordinary road
Eliminate the need for diesel fuels
Safer because of the guided steering system
In time:
Easier to automate to driverless systems
Hopefully upgradeable to road trains.
We agree that when wheeled batteries become all the rage, their multitude of uses will be quite the revolution and by that we mean not just the wheels.
Yeah but we were promised flying cars.

Yeah not sure it’s what we’d wish for but

anyway…
bump…
From the other thread…
Ok, I thought you were proposing a vehicle (car, truck, etc) traffic system, not a rail system.
Rail is already powered by overhead electric power.
Trucks could easily be powered by your proposed system, which I agree with.
It would not suitable for oversize stuff like turbine blades. They might still have to take to regular roads with escorts etc.

I see a problem with the overhead power lines, which stop any oversize vehicles, like wind generators etc.
How about placing the power supply under the road, so that heavy vehicles can get charged via induction loops.

How well to they work compared to overhead wires? Can they charge on the fly?
I once started a thread on this topic.
